I haven't tracked MJ prices of late. It used to be, about 20 years ago, they brought less than XJs. Probably 10 years ago, they started to gain traction. Look like the prices are about even or a touch to the MJ. I will say the same dilemma effects XJs. I will say lifts and mods do not detract from the price as before. I don't think they add a bunch to the price either. Maybe they add 1/2 the cost of the parts price. I will say no rust and low miles drastically increase the price. Also, the lift brand and quality of the install should increase the price. As stated before, when moded you are narrowing the field or potential buyers. Even if yours is exactly what the buyer wants, will they paly the game that it is not? If you can convert back, then that's and edge. So many looking for a steal and not a deal.

Also, I don't know where you are pricing your motor. I would say $3K is about right for the box stores. I thought there was a Reman place that advertises on the net in SC, NC or GA.

I've only had Rusty's trackbars. I have their OTK on an XJ. Decent stuff, but there is better. No rust, I'd try and keep it. MJs and XJ's with no rust are getting hard to find. I'd do as mentioned above and either try and replace the cyl head or have someone else do it. I'd also look at the pistons when you have the head off. Then evaluate the motor condition from there.

Add Barnes to the list. I bought one from them for a Waggy D44. Its for a Driver's side drop. I am going to try it for a Passenger side drop.

Simplest intake possible!
75sv1 replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
What I am looking at is either cut and adapt the oval on the WJ filter box to the XJ filter box. Make a round spacer/adapter so the other oval end fits to the XJ airbox. Another is to adapt to a K&N type filter 'box'. I have something like that from my Ford Contour SVT and I see them on Trucks. Then 'vent' the air in opening to an outside source. -

I've been looking at adapting the 'Power Tech' WJTB hat or Resonator to an XJ. Not sure if to the airfilter box or a K&N type filter. The Power Tech has an oval opening. Seeing how that will adapt somehow. I do have the Thor, but not installed. -
Just claim you were 'Born in East L.A.'.

Yes, the XJ/MJ was the 'New Hope'.

Another spot is above the muffler, and the passenger rear quarter panel. Was it a Dealer, or an individual purchase? I could have seen this going higher, if the economy was better. The mileage might have been at the tipping point for higher prices too.

$9,700 and by a Dealer (?).

I'd say it could be worth that in parts. What's a running 304 worth? Also, the other stuff? A Dana 300 TC about $200-300. Also, I know a few people who have come up with good used frames for under a $1000, I think. To that end, it would look like some work.

The GS I deal with sells what he can get in, with no limit. Sell a box of ammo or a few rounds with a purchase of a gum, if available. I believe I get some consideration since I've dealt with them over the past few years. RK has a 1 box limit.

Where I am at, I don't see .22 ammo, no 9mm, I snagged a box of .380 auto. Primers, good luck. The GS I go to, said he could get reloads, if he could supply primers. There was the .22 shortage probably 10 years back. It was cheaper to shoot .223.

I was in a Gun-Archery shop a weekend ago. I was there this last weekend too. The previous one, I watched as a new to archery guy was getting fitted to a bow. It was a compound, but being more of a beginner one. He needed to get used to the draw poundage. So, I would 3rd it to go to a local shop that does archery. The setup for this guy was $150. It was a used bow, but not really used. Watching how the angles of pull and length and to the nose. As for ammo and guns, its been this way since at least last spring. I think there are a few factors. First is Covid. It has reduced the work force. Ask around and I think you will get at least a 1/4 is out any given week. That also affects supplies and materials. The next is roughly 4-6 million new guns owners in the past year or so. So, now you have a shortage. Sort of like tolliet paper last spring. So, now people are hording. I've found some stuff. It a box here a box there. Basically, any ammo on the shelf will be gone in an hour or two. There are exceptions. The Local Raul King had a bunch of Norma 300 Win Mag. I was told they had a bunch of 300 Blackout. I bought a few boxes of other stuff.

I have the one NAPA sells. I think Blue Fuel. It works OK. I have started by XJ 2-3 times with it. Not saying it is the best out there. I have the smaller version. I bought the larger for my mom, a few Christmases ago. She already had one. Don't know which family member snatched it.

Might also look around for take offs. Hit up tire shops. Look at online adds.

I heard you'd go blind looking at them.

One MJ has a bed topper, another some off road lights.
-
Is it the light bar or the topper?

Which Battery Operated Impact Do You Own?
75sv1 replied to Tex06's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have Dewalt. A drill and a 1/2 impact. I do not have the XR. I had planned to get the XR. NAPA had a sale on some Dewalt Impacts at the time. I did not check that. I checked last night, and not an XR. I feel the non-XRs are a bit weak. -
'Those would be cool. A friend of ours owns a tool and die shop. The machines in there are fascinating. Also, you own a Bricklin SV-1, correct? If so, you should start a build thread on it. ' I have all those in my garage, except the AMX-3. Look up AMX-3. The Monarch 10EE I have is a round dial, so not metric, nor 30" bed. I do have metric change gears. Running is the issues. I do have a Bridgeport clone mill and a Well saw. Its a tight fit.

I think there were some that were black with a gold outer rim. I remember seeing one at a PnP.

I bought them at a JY. They were listed as for a 2000 XJ. I do not know if there is a difference.
