  1. Great info! Def looks like you could trim a universal mud flap to work with these. Thanks.
  2. Do you need OEM mud flaps to run with these brackets? Or, can you trim any piece of rubber to the right shape and bolt them to the bracket?
  3. We call them u-nuts or speed nuts. I found them in the bins at the local ACE hardware.
  4. I've recently been mapping out parts for an (eventual) A/C install. This bundle at RockAuto has the compressor, condenser, o-ring kit, expansion valve, and accumulator/drier for $195. I think that's everything under the hood, except hoses. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=9827000&cc=1181775&jsn=407
  5. Great pics! That guy is in quite a jam. What was the fix? Did you guys have the gear to swap out the studs?
  6. So if MJ bench and bucket floor brackets are the same, and MJ/XJ seats are the same -- then MJ bench floor brackets will readily accept XJ bucket seats? Then I guess I'm sorta confused as to why so many MJ owners are in the market for new floor brackets? Is there an advantage to the new production brackets that I'm missing?
  7. Thanks for sharing. Observations: 1) All that shiny, new - and straight - chrome! Beautiful! 2) It's interesting that the grill on the blue truck is "upside down" in this 1986 dealer promo vid. Guess that debate will go unsettled. 3) I thought side mouldings only came on Eliminators, but there weren't any Eliminators in 1986, right?
  8. Serious question, is it safe to weld inside an attached garage? Or do you guys have a separate shed out back for flinging sparks?
  9. Sliders with up-angled tubing like JCRs, but follow the body line like yours do.
  10. There is an MJ D44 on car-part.com listed for $1500+shipping at the moment. Dude said he sells them "all the time" for that price... lol.
  11. 1) Are you aware that a D30 out of an XJ Cherokee would be a direct swap for your truck? 2) Are you aware that the XJ/MJ D30 is driver drop, not passenger drop? 3) You do not have a Dana 44 rear axle in your truck.
  12. How are the side moldings attached? Did you have to drill holes in your sheet metal to accept some kind of push rivets?
  13. I've been looking into this recently myself. I think I have the hardware mostly figured out, but the electrical part has me confused. Biggest questions: 1) Does anyone know if the 91+ trucks are pre-wired for A/C? 2) Where is the "cabin thermostat" (temperature sensor) located? Or, what tells the compressor to cycle on/off?
  14. What did they charge for parts and labor?
  15. Congrats KB! We just had our first (a boy) on 06/07/18. You're in for an awesome ride! I'll guess: 6lbs 8oz 18.5" tall August 25 7pm

  17. Crossed a couple of easy ones off the to-do list this weekend. First, was swapping in the Putco light harness. And second, was installing cruise control. To activate cruise, I did need to buy a new turn signal lever. Interestingly, I couldn't find a part number for a turn lever WITH cruise control and WITHOUT wiper delay. Was that combo never offered?? Anyway, I had to buy one that is labeled for cruise + wiper delay. It works great, but now my wiper nodes are labeled wrong. Which, of course, means I get to have fun researching wiper delay components. Woohoo!
  18. Yes, lights on, engine running. It was like 14.14V at the battery, 14.12V at the Putco socket and 13.9V at the stock socket. I changed only the harness. Still running stock headlights for now so the load is the same and there shouldn't be a change in current draw. But I do agree that there should be a little less heat generated through the conductor -- which is a good thing.
  19. I've read this a few times around here. Just finish swapping in the putco harness and I'm underwhelmed, at best. There was only 0.13V difference at the headlight socket between the stock harness and the putco harness. IMO, that means the stock harness performs just fine. I think my next move will be Hella E-codes and some 80/100W bulbs to get better bang for my buck out of the putco harness.

  21. Well... I should have known better than to google "biting worms" after lunch.... Hook worms...
  22. Meanwhile, in Satan's @$$ crack... it peaked at 124 before I got the camera out...
  23. We don't know the I.D. or thread pitch of your adjustable control arms so it's hard to suggest a fix. I think you are looking for something like below to replace the heims. Call up CavFab and tell them ya dun goofed and need help. https://www.ironrockoffroad.com/product/bushing-threaded-male-end.html
  24. Kind of curious about this. What's your tire size and gear ratio? Also, did you happen to track your gas mileage on this trip?
