how to increase my tow capacity??
91Pioneer replied to th3m4nm4rcu5's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
There's more to towing capacity than power and axles. Think cooling, braking, suspension etc. -
Newbie build - 91 Eliminator
91Pioneer replied to acerocknroll's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
The same thing happened to me recently. Just do this: http://amzn.to/1nGTz59 https://youtu.be/HaFcFNDck4w -
For what it's worth, I used a 92-96 sender on my 91. It is actually just a single wire unit even though there is space for an extra wire and terminal (it's just plain missing). I used the wiring pigtail from the 92-96 XJ and crimped on a spade terminal to tie back into my factory 91 wiring. It may not be pretty but it works great and was a lot less than the $45 RockAuto wanted for an aftermarket sender (CDN w/shipping).

Turn Signal Cancelling Problems
91Pioneer replied to big66440's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Update. I needed that lower spring which is for the left signal cancel, long story short I went to many auto parts stores and nobody had the Dorman part, it's pretty much an online only deal. I also hit up the junkyard that day and found a GM truck with the steering wheel off so I grabbed both springs very easily and it was free LOL  -
Oil pressure erratic until engine warm
91Pioneer replied to 91Pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Well I thought I should post an update. It turns out the sender was bad. The spring inside was not working so when pressure went up the spring did not properly move the little plunger back out which drops the pressure reading. I just replaced it with a junkyard one and it's working wonderfully now (I was too cheap to spend $45 on a brand new unit LOL), I don't have an actual oil pressure problem which is great  -

That is such an incredibly sweet stock truck, it's a shame to see it get modified. -

Oh I'm sure they screwed something up, DIY that fluid change again or take it to a real shop before it's too late. -
Jeep XJ MJ OEM AM FM CD Player Mopar 82300393
91Pioneer replied to HOrnbrod's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Meh, I'm not a fan of the look of it because I know it's not really factory (to an MJ). But then again I don't own any CDs either LOL My truck just has AM/FM radio and I'm good with that ;) My car (DD) has Internet radio (Slacker) and I can just tell it what song to play and it will play it :) -
I hate when people permanently butcher MJ's but that is the best looking rear bumper bed cuts I've seen. That angle makes it look a little more like factory. Straight cuts just look so wrong.

Need New Ball Joints?
91Pioneer replied to Arch_Stanton's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I saw this today regarding Moog ball joints on another forum I visit - http://www.myfordfreestyle.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=49037#p49037 I dunno I'd say stick with the known good Spicer, they should last you a few decades so don't worry about going too high end and stay away from cheap ball joints. -

I'm thinking about doing a video on DIY headliner fabric recover-ing...
-
Why do you guys buy replacement headliners? Just rip off the old saggy fabric, keep the board and recover it, it's cheaper and faster.

GeorgiaJeeper93's '86 MJ Build
91Pioneer replied to GeorgiaJeeper93's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
The tail lights are basically illegal. The light output for brakes are pointing out to the sides, not behind you. Big time fail if you go on the street. Also, your grille is upside down. MJ tail lights aren't that expensive and not hard to find on this forum, why did you go for the ugly Dakota tails? -
