I don't know about that one in particular, but I do know that for my '00 Dakota, the headlight and marker light assemblies can come separate or combined in a single unit (factory was separate).

basing this on no info whatsoever, but it seems to me that whatever worn part that is causing it to pop out of gear could probably be scavenged from the 2wd trans. my experience is that both should be scrapped and an AX-15 installed.

5spd will come with the 4.10 geared axle. I'd keep my options open and look for both.
