  1. my truck was notorious for corrosion on the battery cables causing a no-start. sure enough, I'd clean up the contact surfaces with steel wool and it'd crank over.
  2. ours has been... relatively inexpensive so far. I've heard lots of horror stories for sure. But I'm staring at a big project in the near future as I replace most of the aged suspension. on the other hand I'm adding a lift at the same time so it's all good I love that tractor!
  3. a generic term would be an air-dam.
  4. Don has a rustfree southern rig. those of us with rustbuckets can expect a bigger difference. But there is no reason why you shouldn't put in the relay harness, no matter what light you're running.
  5. I've got a KJ, the XJ's chubbier and cuter younger cousin And right now the CRDJ is getting all the money and attention while the MJ languishes. technically I do have an XJ. but it's sole purpose right now is to sit at my grandmother's house to make it look like someone lives there (she has no garage and so there's never a car at the house at night unless I'm in town). the pass side is smashed in and the previous owner melted piston #2 somehow. eventually it'll likely be a donor for a obd2 swap into an MJ.
  6. yup. it's like 10 bucks and 10 minutes of your time.
  7. do the relay upgrade before you spend all that coin! link is in my sig
  8. I believe the 97+ rubber windshield gasket replaces those trim bits.
  9. I put LEDs in my foglight housings and use them as daytime running lights. I spend a lot of time in mighigan and prefer headlights that melt the snow.
  10. if what was submitted had the word "Jeep" in it, then I'd suggest dropping the tagline and just going with the truck and ComancheClub undeneath. or maybe #theMJaddictionisreal
  11. I decided I didn't want to wait for the lift and tried the 245/75s as is. rubs exactly where it should. so I trimmed and hammered and now they don't. love those rims! Now I just need to figure out how to mount the winch...
  12. I love a good story! how are the rockers?
  13. you would have regretted selling it, I'm sure. looks like a nice truck!
  14. that sure would look good in my driveway
  15. no one has an answer?
  16. that's... extra weird.
  17. well, you'll need to offer more than 400 for it. he didn't take that well.
  18. Ron can correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe we are limited to just a single image choice.
  19. or break it. (although this particular Jeep seems pretty broken already)
  20. from the factory the metric ton MJs were not any taller than regular 4x4 MJs. Aftermarket metric ton packs might give you a lift. or not. they aren't really designed for lift.
  21. couldn't help myself. called the guy and went up to look at it. rougher than I thought (aren't they all?). some cracking bondo at the back left top corner and the pass door (something about a dropped ladder many years ago). rear bumper is tweaked in each corner and rusting on the backside. but that and the tailgate handle was the only rust I could find. the engine is toast. maybe. the previous owner thought he heard some low end knocking and started an inspection but didn't get passed removing the harmonic balancer (which is now missing) before he had an accident in his other car. truck has been sitting for a couple years now. the tilt steering is messed up. pulled back the corners of the carpet and the pad I could touch was dry. there was water on the carpet though so something somewhere leaks. oh, and there may be some back taxes if registered local. Essentially it's an ok rolling chassis in need of a drivetrain swap. so... it's overpriced. But people keep telling him about all the $3000 MJs and he thinks is gold (and not just in color). He's moving to FL but didn't give a timeline but that might make the sale more pressing? I dunno.
  22. they are part of what gives an MJ a 2k load rating. from the factory the truck would also have had tougher shocks, front springs, wheels and rear axle. In theory it'll ride a bit stiffer than a regular MJ, but it's not all that bad. oh, and the leaf packs came in 2 varieties over the years, 4+1 and 3+2. be cautious. time/abuse can be a killer to springs. just because they were rated for 2k 30 years ago doesn't necessarily mean they are capable today.
  23. the center section as a whole pops up on ebay now and again.
  24. how about now? I changed some things that would hopefully fix that.
