I'd wager that for a lot less than 50 grand I could grab a JK body and drop it on a diesel truck frame...
-
damn straight 6 grand should easily be able to buy one that doesn't need all that work. But I totally understand that being at the bottom of the list right now. I don't even have much, but I can't imagine having to suddenly start over with nothing that I have right now.

I'd offer 2500. but then that's the absolute most I'd pay for a northern rig. rot holes I don't much care about for a wheeler, but I hate dealing with corrosion in the little things like bolts and wires. On the other hand, I'd much rather beat on a body that's already bad. but fighting every little bolt gets old. decisions, decisions... Just don't let the big bad 4x4 stance blind you to all the nitty gritty things that are likely needing attention. for reference, we shipped my dad's Camaro from Detroit to Atlanta for about $600. To haul my truck down the same distance cost me about the same after fuel and trailer rental.

all depends on what you want to do with the truck. that much money can fetch a rust free stock version elsewhere. but if you're looking for a beater to offroad or drive in the salt without fear of damaging pristine steel, then it's an ok truck to pursue. I still wouldn't pay quite that much for a rotted truck. also, I'm going to move this to the pub for opinions. If you acquire it, then I can move it back or you can start a fresh thread.

something in the email thingie (technical term) is amiss and driving me nuts. Can't say for sure if your issue is part of it though. Hopefully Krypt will get some downtime from work this winter and be able to go though it all.

it could be anything. they hadn't yet standardized the ratios for each drivetrain combo. easiest way is to jack up one rear tire, put it in neutral, and spin the tire around exactly twice while counting the number of times the driveshaft spins. 3 and a half is 3.55, a tic over 4 is 4.10, etc.

it's admittedly easy to screw up a shot (trust me, I do that a lot), but sometimes snapping a pic in Disney feels like cheating. they try hard to make everything picture-perfect. the dinosaur is an example of dumb luck. I was trying a super long exposure on the icecream shack and the fireworks started right at the end. I never get a decent fireworks shot!

I gotta run out the door, but I can merge your 2 accounts and fix the email as soon as I get a chance. send me a message with the email and pass you'd prefer.

if it has an @address with it (instagram addy), it's from the OP, Grinch. we couldn't figure out a way to automatically insert it here so I do it manually. the other are from my personal collection of MJ images from the almighty interwebs (google, FB, pintrest, etc). someday I'll dig up the old folder from back in the day when it was HARD to find MJ images (20 years ago).

I still say it's as much of a "truck" as that 4 door f150 that just drove by my house. or either of the caddy/linc trucks. It's not bad. it just could have been so much more... (for example, where's the v8? or the turbo v6? or any engine that would make me look twice!)
-
you'll be fine with either drivesahft. Just don't get any from 86 or earlier as they are a spindly little thing. also, put some basic details of your truck in your signature
-
you've clearly taken great care of your truck! I love it! also, a big Jeep wave to you from Loganville

my cousin recently bought his first brand new vehicle. very proud of him! He wanted a work truck; regular cab with an 8ft bed. eventually got a Ram Tradesman from 3 states over because they were so hard to find. seems no one is buying them so they aren't on the lots? this Jeep isn't much different than than any of the other 1/2 ton trucks I see on the road. 4 doors and a short bed. for better or for worse, they are everywhere and very popular. I predict Jeep sells every single one they can make for the first few years.

indeed. she needs armor. and a lift. I have a plan for the first. the latter takes a goodly chunk of money and will have to wait.
-
do you have any lift?

same here with my mom's side of the family.

that's one thing about the CRD, removing the oil filter is so easy even a rock or tree root could do it! while you're driving! I really need to get a skidplate for that thing...
