  1. just aesthetics. gives the engine bay a splash of color. make sure you do it right though. VCs tend to have years of oily residue in them and need to be super cleaned for the paint to adhere properly.
  2. if you're repainting the truck, I think a matching valve cover would be nice.
  3. the unit in the dash is an aftermarket item. as to the other half of this thread, please take it to PMs.

    Comanche on XOR

just got back into town so I'll try to dig it out of the dvr tomorrow.
  5. mine is still a brick sitting on the floor of the trailer because I'm on vacation and won't be able to start a diagnosis for another day or 2. the not knowing what's lost is just the worst.
  6. ain't nobody got time for that at least I got it mostly right not having my own computer has made my usually discombobulated brain even more so.
  7. between the radio and the cluster went the vehicle warning system thingie. can't remember what it was called. Sentry? it came on very very few XJs and gave notice of low oil in the pinions, trans temp, and other things.
  8. I know how ya feel hoping to get that throttle body and linkage into my girl this winter and actually putter around the yard. then see what all else has gone wrong in the last few years. baby steps.
  9. backspacing is key. aftermarket steel rims push the tire out and they start contacting the fenders when you turn.
  10. bring along a fridge magnet (nothing too strong) and try to stick it to the rockers and above the rear tires. it won't stick if there's anything other than steel in there. Our trucks rot fromt he inside-out so the really bad stuff is always hidden.
  11. there's a thread in the vendors section of the classifieds
  12. Not my words. it's a dongle
  13. I installed this new-to-me '92ish radio in my '06 Liberty. that's right, a 26 year old radio in a 12 year old Jeep. Minuit installed the AUX (and replaced the bulbs so I can see the time) and I added in a Bluetooth dongle (the cable you see is for charging the phone). the sound is very good if you use an equalizer on the phone rather than the sliders. I have no desire to get a more modern unit. the only thing lacking is an output for a subwoofer, but Jeremy is working on that.
  14. congrats!
  15. ooo! I like the cardboard trick!

    Half-track ATV

they are so far back of the CoG I wonder how effective they would be. neat idea though.
  17. research, research, research. Disney is not a place to just show up without at least a hint of a game plan. there is practically infinite choice of what to do next. there should be menus online of what all is available at the various booths at F+W so you can see ahead of time where you want to go and try things. oh, and some of the booths have a second line so make sure you take a look to see if there is an empty line on the other side. and get your fastpasses asap!
  18. in this day and age, I imagine (if it's resold, not wrecked) that it'll pop up again on the internet.
  19. I've updated the links I can find in the DIY list. not sure about where else they would be though.
  20. yup, start running through Cruiser's tips. should be the first link in the link in my sig. one of them is refreshing grounds, specifically the one behind the drivers side taillight which grounds the fuel pump.
  21. welcome to the addiction. just wait til you're eyeing your third truck. oh and be sure to start a build thread.
  22. a small amount of oil in the filter just means you own an old Jeep. nothing to be concerned about. clearing out the lines is the first step. if it still does it, you can do a valve cover mod to help keep the oil from splashing up to the vent. there are several members with over 300k on their engines. also, here's some good late night reading for ya:
  23. you too! have you done a food-n-wine yet?
  24. the double booster is by far the best upgrade. should be a couple how-tos in that link.
