  1. I agree. SOMEBODY needs to make these available. Perhaps even re-styled to mimic the 97-up XJ tails...
  2. How much are the OEM ones going for?
  3. -I was just looking to see if the bushing that comes in the Ford kit the OP tried happens to fit our spring eye. -I'm not too convinced this Express/Savanna shackle isn't the one you're thinking of. No dimensions on Dorman's website, I'm waiting on an email back from them. I found the Automan listing on ebay first which led me to check and see who else offered a replacement shackle for the Express/Savanna; hence the Dorman # FWIW I can't say I've had too much trouble with "Dorman junk" over the years. In my general experience Dorman hard parts are more often a "hit" than a "miss"...
  4. Could be. Apparently they're a truck parts company. I'm gonna order both and see which ones are sturdier (if they're any different at all).
  5. I'd like to throw another candidate in the mix; Dorman 722-006 They're listed for 1/2 ton Chevy Express or GMC Savanna vans and they appear to be a tad bit narrower on the spring eye side and even closer to our stock 4 3/8" length. I've found ones made by Automan on ebay too. Pending a confirmation on the dimensions I'll probably be buying the Dorman ones via NAPA since I get a discount there, but the Automan ones on ebay look like a good deal!
  6. I've got my seat bottoms switched L-R. The only thing that is on the wrong side is the little elastic loop that holds the seat belt buckle. And as I'm typing this I'm realizing that you're also wanting to switch the seat backs... Well yea then the recline and "fold forward" lever would be switched.
  7. This stuff is where its at; super handy for all kinds of things in the garage. I keep it in the beer fridge. Get plastic from whatever suits your fancy
  8. Intewesting...
  9. So that's three of us. Shweet! I guess I still don't see where evguy's left engine-side mounts attach to the block, and weather or not Jetta ALH accessories will have to be moved at all. His black XJ on the website uses a BEW (pd) engine so I'm guessing the accessory drive is totally different?? johnj92131 are pictures of your 1Z in a Passat gonna be of any use to me? If only I were a VW guy maybe I'd know some of this, lol.
  10. johnj92131 what does your accessory drive look like compared to an ALH? I'm REALLY wanting to leave it all stock but it seems like everybody struggles with it. Especially the ac
  11. Knock on wood I've been running around with an internal slave setup since I've owned the truck (almost 8 years) and haven't had anything besides a master cyl. fail. Granted its only been pushing on a stock pressure plate but still its not quite the ticking time bomb like everyone would like you to think. My $.02:Just keep fresh-ish fluid in there and save your money
  12. Why the ScanGauge2? Why not just get the factory Jeep senders into the TDi somehow? Might have to get creative with the tach, but the oil, coolant, and volts should be as easy as some thread adapters.
  13. Bringing it home. The harness and whatnot come out next. For those who are curious about the engine I'll be posting up more pictures of it as I go along. Although I'm forcing myself to finish some other projects before I tear into it too deep.
  14. When it comes to bleeding can you do the gauge sending unit trick on 2.5s same as 4.0s?
  15. I'm beginning to wonder about the whole gastodiesel engine mount thing after getting a closer look at this thing in the flesh and reading about all the trouble people are going through with the accessory drive... why not hang it from the factory spot at the front of the engine and "dog bone" it on the turbo side?
  16. I have issues unlocking the doors in the cold as well. As crazy as it sounds you might try warming up the lock cylinder with a hair dryer for a good 5-10 min and try again. I haven't ever dug into exactly what hangs up in the cold but it ONLY happens in the cold so obviously nothing is flat out broken... good luck! Be gentle.
  17. Sure am, same username.
  18. Very nice! The AHU is the older one with the stamped sump and such right? 1Z? Are we the only two on this board riding the TDi bandwagon?
  19. Over the last couple of years I've gone back and forth in my head about a hundred times; TDi? 4.8LS? 318? MegaSquirt-ed 4.0? But last week I stumbled upon a local deal I couldn't refuse and took the bait. My mind has been made up for me! Its a 2000 Jetta TDi with the ALH engine. At almost 400k on the clock the engine will definitely need gone through, but it runs and drives. I'll be pulling all the necessary parts here soon but I won't likely see any swap progress for a long time. This is the swap part supplier I'm considering. Oh well, I'm still excited!
