First time poster, Just got my second Comanche had to drive from SW Washington to San Jose to get it. But anyway here's my problem for today.

I have no power to anything in accesory and my crappy @$$ dome lights don't work.

Any Ideas? I can't figure it out.

I don't remember... is there some way to tell?

Click on user controls then under post count is "see posts", then click that the brings up your history, find your first post and copy and paste. :smart:

I tried that, but I have almost 2,450 posts. I click on see users posts, and it says 2392 matches found. I went to the last page, on the bottom, but I'm 99.9% sure it's not my first. :dunno:

The date on that post is also 2 weeks after my join date... I know I didn't wait that long to post.

Glad to see a forum for us weirdos! Heck, there's more people with comanches that actually wheel them than I thought. I've personally got two, one might have to be hauled away sometime soon. The other one is stripped down to pretty much nothing as I'm in the process of painting it with bedliner. There's a ford 8.8 sitting in my yard, disk brakes, 4.10s and posi, just begging to be swapped in. Rustys off road just sent me a UPS tracking # for my LA kit, so things are looking good!

Anywho, gotta go - it's like too late for me. Gotta get up early to sand the MJ.

That was a while ago. It's out of the 'Houston, we have a forum' thread, I think the board had been around under a month at that point?

Oh yeah, I had to search using the actual search feature, Via control panel only took me back to 2008.

Post subject: QuestionPosted: Thu Oct 04, 2007 7:46 pm

Hello everyone, new guy here, still learning the ropes.

My ques. is my Jeep has the 2.5L with a 4 speed and it seems like it's really lowed geared, 60mph is all that i will run it, any faster than that just seems to hard on it, I have had it to 70mph and that poor ol engine was just screaming.

Is this normal for a 2.5 4speed?

man i got to reading some of my old post, i didnt know crap back then, ive learned a lot from all you guys.

I am a new MJ owner again. I had a 86 Starline RV conversion MJ I sold a few years back. I just recently picked up another 86. I got the rust free, 2.5, 4x4 beast for $400. It needed a AX-5. I picked one up for $100 and it runs great now. On with the show, Robert.

Post subject: WTB: Comanche in the Southeast

Posted: Fri May 08, 2009 9:35 pm

I live in middle TN and am looking for a decent DD Comanche. It doesn't need to be lifted or souped-up since this will primarily be a DD/Trash Hauler. I already have an XJ for a trail rig, so now I need a complimentary, matching DD.

Here's what I'm looking for:

$2,000 or less

6 cyl

AT or MT - doesn't matter

Good heat

Good A/C

Prefer LWB, but not necessary

Little to no rust

Decent interior

Prefer 4WD, but not necessary

Lift is definitely not necessary. If lifted, I will unlift it.

Can travel 8 hours. This encompasses the 20 CL listings closest to me; including Chicago, IL; Augusta, GA; Athens, OH.

lol. I'm sure glad I didn't stick with those specs. Turns out I really like having an auto. I'm also glad I didn't drive 8 hrs to find one!!!!

Hey All, Just wanted to put my truck up for sale. I know most of you new guys won't know who the hell I am, but I am the one who made the "comanche history" website (http://www.comanchemj.1hwy.com). Anywho, ask Pete M. he'll tell you who I am... Back to why I am here... I am finally down to one comanche, and I don't have a use for it... So I want you guys to be able to have first dibs...Here we go.

1991 Jeep Comanche Elimintor 4x4

About the truck:

-Black

-4.0L H.O. (15,000 on new jasper motor)

-AW4 Automatic (rebuilt 40K ago)

-30/35C Axles (no limited slip)

-Florida Body (minimal rust)

-Grey Bucket seat interior

-Console Shift

-Wing windows

-Sliding Rear

-Roll on bedliner

-Jeep Grand Cherokee "Canyon" Style wheels

-3" Rusty's Lift

-Air-raid intake tube

-K/n Cone Filter

-Flowmaster 40 series (deep Throaty Idle, I love it)

-Chrome Push Bar, with foglights

-Diamond Plate toolbox (Very Nice fit)

-New Paint in 2004 (maaco though, has orange peel, some blemishes)

-Trailer hitch

Extras That Come with the truck:

-3" Chrome Tube Rollbar w/lights (Comanche specific)

-Extra Set Of Rims (Eliminator style 10 Hole, Fake beadlock)

-Drop in bedliner

New Stuff on the truck:

Brakes(don't hold me to that one though) :D

Unfinished Projects that go with the truck:

-Cropped overhead console from a cherokee limited (compass and temp)

with wiring harness

-Extra add a leafs

-Extra 2" poly coil spacers

-"Jeep" Fluid Monitoring system center (a seldom seen option that came on wagoneer XJ's, has a list of fluids with lights indicating levels, goes in that empty space under the clock, and you always wondered what went there 8) ...)

Mentionables:

Took second place in Cherokee class at the United Auto Workers Carshow in Belvidere, Il.

Great Truck, only left me stranded once(damn starter)

Love this truck to death and would like to keep it but My cummins is all I need right now. I want a V-8 car.

Maintained By a certified Auto/Diesel/Indust. mechanic.

Bad Things About the Truck:

-Work in progress.

-Has cracked windshield

-Headliner down for console install

I also found my first post on the Yahoo group, from way back in January of '03.

Hey guys,

I was reading your post, and have a list of parts you

might need for your trucks.(including some clusters

from '89.)

here's a list

1. 2 bucket seats (non matching)

2. 3 dash assemblies(red,grey,blue)

3. 3 Gauge clusters (email for more info.)

4. Pistons for 4 cyl

5. left front fender from a cherokee

6. 3 4.0l 242 engines

7. 5 speed manual for 4.0l

This is a list of some parts I have, if you need

something else email me.

I also have a '88 comanche that ran into a tree at

slow speed. I have pics at

http://www.angelfire.com/extreme4/comanches/

under the title my project comanche.

Talk about history....

My first post here is pretty obvious, so I did some searching and found my intro post from the old yahoo group page (dated March 14 2002). :D I noticed I didn't mention that the 86 was a metric ton. I wonder if I knew that yet?

A little intro music please...

Hey all,

I guess I should introduce myself.

Hi, my name is Pete, and I'm an MJ-aholic. I only

have two so far. The first was an '88 Pioneer 4.0 2wd

5spd (Olympic edition, not that it means much more

than extra stickers). The second, an '86 2.8 4x4 5spd.

Both exceed 170K miles. When I get a place of my own,

I’ll probably give the '86 to my dad and find a '92

from some roadsaltless fantasy land ;)

I got the '88 five years ago. The first vehicle that was MINE.

(I'd been driving my folks '85 Escort before then.)

Still is my favorite. I destroyed the

Dana 35 after 2 years (replaced with a 44) and last

year the Peugeot gave up. Oh well, I needed a project

anyway. After I'm through with its metamorphosis, I'm

sure it'll be my favorite for many more years to

come.

The '86 has been around. Literally. It's a certified

Californian truck that moved to Oklahoma at one point, had a

serious wire fire, was stripped out, and only the

bare-essential wires were rerun. (no wipers, no indicators, and

the brake lights were activated by a button taped to

the firewall!) Then, several years later it came to

Michigan where some guy saw me working on my '88 and asked

if I knew anyone that wanted it for cheap cause he

was moving. It did take me a couple minutes and a

test drive to decide ;) (And yes, I have made it

street legal.) The purchased-as-spare-parts-on-wheels

(with still no dash or gauges except for the speedo)

turned out to be quite the work truck, hauling half

yards of dirt or 700 pound loads of rocks for my dad's home

landscaping. Later it was loaned to a friend who drove it 50+

miles a day for several months. Surprised the heck out

of me!

Anyway, those are my trucks (along with my

'00 Dakota R/T. Come on, the Peugeot had just died

and I had a 90 mile commute. My boss didn't quite

like not knowing if my transportation was in a

cooperative mood that day.) The '88 will soon receive a '99

TJ AX-15 and NP-231 coupled with the 4.10 geared

Dana 44 and 9-inch from the '78 Bronco I just

acquired. (It was cheaper than buying the axles from a

junkyard!) Should be adequate, at least 'til I get that V8

some day.

Post subject: BA10 to NV3550 swap

PostPosted: Sun Feb 12, 2006 12:39 am

anyone else blessed with this amazing peice of french engineering?

i've decided id really rather not wait for the BA10 in my truck to crap out and looking at tranny swap options the NV3550 looks better than a AX15. anyone tried/done this?

any opinions on which is better? (AX15/NV3550)

-nick

hahaha, 45,000miles later and i'm STILL beating on that poor BA10 :rotfl2:
