Nah, you'll be fine, just make sure you torque the control arm bolts with the truck at ride height.

Don't buy used control arms for pete's sake. The bushings will be 12 years old at the very newest and to my knowledge can't be replaced Dorman makes replacement oval bushings for WJ control arms. I bought Moog ones off Rockauto and I'm happy with them. If you're going to go to the work of swapping control arms, I don't understand why you wouldn't want to have new bushings. Same amount of work either way.

tl;dr: Paste the code in the "How did you find out about us?" area. Thanks for reminding me Don, sometimes I forget to hunt for a code when I make an order. I give RA more money than I'd like to admit :D

:yeah that: The rain is only now letting up and the weather was pretty dicey the past couple of days but happy Christmas and merry New Year to y'all and y'all's.

These are obviously fake. The mounting tabs haven't broken off. :D

Widely believed False Mj Statements .
Minuit replied to Strokermjcomanche's topic in Forum Issues, Ideas, Testing
I think this could be made a companion to the "what is the most important MJ tip" thread, but IMO it needs some cleanup. Just read some of the Facebook groups and you'd fill up the thread in a day  -
please help ! 88 jeep comanche problem
Minuit replied to LaComanche88's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The filter in your hood cowl is not the correct setup for the truck. It does not provide any performance benefits. It only sucks up dirt. The stock air filter is behind the driver side headlight and does not get dirty quickly. It is better in every way than the cowl intake you have now. You need to find a stock air filter setup and use that instead. The idle air control valve is on the front of the throttle body. It probably is very dirty and is not letting your engine idle. Remove it and clean it VERY CAREFULLY and your idle should improve. -
Factory speakers were 5-1/4" in the doors and 4x6 just above the bottoms of the B-pillars. If there's speakers anywhere else they've been added on by the PO. If the truck was sufficiently stripped it wouldn't have any at all. Factory rear speaker setup:

is a comanche i6 1988 have hydraulic lifters
Minuit replied to groffman056's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yes. -
The 2.5 will do anything you need to do, it just won't be as much fun or get you there as quick as the 4.0. It was actually one of the more powerful 4 cylinder truck engines in its day, so it's better than most in that respect. Just imagine a 4.0 with 2 cylinders chopped off. That's exactly what it is.

DIY Projects / Writeups Master Search Index
Minuit replied to Minuit's topic in MJ Tech: DIY Projects and Write-Ups
Understood  My schedule is gonna free up over the next week, so I can actually start working on stuff. I'll probably start alphabetizing the entries, checking to make sure pics work, etc in the next few days. -

Don... you know it's a sticky, right? -
How much lift are you running?

Looks like a sick dog dragging its @$$ around. i don't understand it either. Dangerous too, but that's a positive for stupid people.

Not exactly a living, but I'm a full time mechanical engineering student, part time math tutor. On the side I work on friends and family's cars and occasionally dabble in detailing. I would much rather be working than shoving my face in books all day.

Cleaned engine bay and now it looks terrible
Minuit replied to dkmcgowan's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'd say the oil would burn off as soon as the engine warms up and probably not do much. I'm not familiar with its cleaning properties but it might be worth a shot. If Purple Power is the thing I'm thinking about then it's known to have effects like that on aluminum (and searching "purple power aluminum" on Google backs me up on that). Googling just "purple power" produces results not entirely related to cleaning chemicals Meguiar's makes a couple of engine degreasers that work well, but that's the kind of thing you have to buy online. -
:agree: Any mirrors from a Cherokee or Comanche will work. The 97+ are hideous but give you more visibility, but require minor modification to fit. The '84-'96 versions (they all fit within that year range) are correct for your truck. There are multiple types but all will work. Any junkyard will have what you need. Don't bother with aftermarket crap. If you have the awful mirrors that mount to the door skin, you will need to plug 2-4 holes in your door, but no other changes are needed.

Automatic Steering Column Shifter Indicator
Minuit replied to JoeLAW's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Yep, I did that too when I took mine out the last time. I wasn't too torn up about it since I was actually planning to swap in a full cluster (breaking the indicator just forced my hand). Still sucks to accidentally break such a rare part though.- 7 replies

Is that a Toyota bed? :hmm: As always thanks for putting this together. Looks like quite a few solid ones this time. -
Gas gauge doesn't go to full when I fill up
Minuit replied to 91Pioneer's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I have a similar problem. Immediately after filling up the gauge goes to 1/2. After about 30 miles it starts going up to 3/4, and from then on consistently reads 1/4 lower than the true value. It's been doing this ever since I've had it, both with the basic and full clusters. Do you know if the tank has been replaced? It's been replaced on mine and I have a feeling that something wasn't exactly put back right when it was done. -
A pre-modified MJ is worthless to me. If I'm going to be driving a 3300lb death machine at 70+ mph for hours at a time, I want to know 100% for sure that it's roadworthy (and I have a pretty conservative definition of roadworthy) I also assume that most people don't care about doing the job right, and take absolutely no pride in their work. I can trust work from two sources: myself and the Jeep factory. If I screw something up, at least I know I'm the one who screwed it up. Basically, I have to know that the vehicle is not a danger to myself or anyone else, and I can't be sure of that if someone else had their way with it.

3..........................12. I have no interest in owning another person's project, especially if they've already done the fun stuff (and ESPECIALLY if they've touched anything electrical in nature). If I'm gonna spend the time and money on a truck it's going to be mine down to every single bolt. Only worry I'd have with #3 would be the quality of the repaint, but I could have it professionally repainted with the money left over. I would probably end up building my hypothetical copy of #3 just like I'm building mine, stock-ish but you would never know it wasn't stock. My "ideal" configuration would be 4.0 (easy stroker with the extra money!), AX-15, NP242. Both 2 and 1 look like they're well built, it's just that I would never actually use them for their built purpose. I'd never abuse a truck to the point that the roll cage would actually be useful. 2 is last because it's much too showy and accessorized for me.
