    SEMA Trucks

What? You mean you don't like this fine example of functional art?
  2. Agreed with Don. Mine forgets how to idle for a little while but it never does what you're describing. Have you checked the vacuum line from the throttle body to the MAP sensor? Did you clean the idle air control valve when you took the throttle body off? If not, do those before you load up the parts cannon :D
  3. That glovebox trim really does look good  Glad to see another youngin (that really doesn't sound right for me to say) preserving one of these trucks and not beating the piss out of it.
  4. The glovebox door is replaceable. I wouldn't bother trying to fix that. It doesn't look like it's the right color either. Someone on here should have a glovebox door in that color.
  5. Can you get measurements of how much it lifts your truck? I'm considering these very springs but nobody seems to have a straight answer on how much lift they give. When I asked I got answers between 2.75" and 1.5".
  6. That's how it should look.
  7. 100% agree.
  8. I know quite a few people on here who probably would. If I got my hands on one you're damn right I'd try my best to make it work. Having an MJ with a working one would be one of a kind.
  9. Always the simple stuff! Sometimes those plugs don't want to go all the way in for whatever reason.
  10. Yeah, the Useless Nothing Panel just to the right of the gauges is where the clock would go. A lot of people cut that panel out for switches or extra gauges. Assuming of course you're talking about this? I have no idea what a Sigma Six display is either. If you don't have a clock or the really, really, REALLY rare fluid sentinel which I strongly doubt you have it's just a piece of plastic.
  11. On the left side of the dash above the hood release cable. Should be a 5/16" bolt. You might have to take the knee panel off to see it. http://cruiser54.com?p=110
  12. This is incorrect. The tach should work out of the box. The signal comes from the ignition system and every MJ is equipped for it, whether it originally had the tach or not. I've converted two trucks now and the tach has worked correctly both times. Check that the two plugs are snapped in all the way (on my '89, sometimes they won't go in completely and the gauges won't work) and check the ground under the dashboard. You mentioned everything else works fine, so neither of those are probably the issue but they're still worth checking. Other than that, I've never personally had a tach go bad but if everything else checks out I'd start suspecting the tachometer gauge itself may be bad. You might also want to look for any nicks or tears in the cluster's printed circuit board. Let me know what you determine. I have quite a few parts for these Renix clusters (no complete ones, sadly) so if you need another tach or a printed circuit board I could probably help you out.
  13. There's a big connector where the wiring harness goes into the cab that's packed with some tarry crap that hardens over time. It's never been a source of issues for me but you could try cleaning it out. It'll be on the other side of the fusebox. Held together with I believe a 1/4" bolt. Look right under the clutch master cylinder.
  14. You mentioned a 5 speed. A common problem with manual Comanches is that the clutch master cylinder can leak fluid directly onto the fuse box under the dash. When this happens, electronics will start acting strange for no apparent reason. Take a good look at the fusebox and look for any corrosion or evidence of the plastic fusebox cracking or distorting. See if the fuses wiggle. If the fusebox looks damaged or corroded, this is very likely your problem. If that's what happened, both the fusebox and clutch master cylinder will need to be replaced. The wipers stopping could also be due to the bushings in the linkage being worn out and binding. See this link. http://comancheclub.com/topic/18239-mjxj-wiper-bushing-install/
  15. I'm not a Hillary supporter. I'm registered for the Selective Service. I don't sit around on social media all day. I have a job. I don't put sugar water in people's fuel tanks. My parents are upstanding people who got where they did purely from hard work. I was born on April 30, 1996. What does that make me? That "man" did what he did because he was a cowardly piece of $#!&. When he was born had absolutely nothing to do with it. Every generation so far has been the "worst generation of people ever." That doesn't make what happened to you any less $#!&ty, but everyone who was born around the time he was isn't at fault.
  16. Junkyard from an automatic XJ. I pulled it from a '90 and it was identical to the original. Sent from my LG-D850 using Tapatalk
  17. They never taught us any mnemonics or if they did I just forgot them. I'd be surprised if they teach it at all anymore in most places. I just have it memorized :dunno:
  18. Entirely possible that your clutch master cylinder has leaked and damaged the fusebox. My 89 had it bad and the gauge cluster lights didn't work at all until I replaced the fusebox. Can you wiggle the fuses any? They should be tight. Do the little connectors in the fusebox look corroded? That's the first thing I'd check if I had electrical issues on a manual shift truck. 19. You call that a pic dump? :D Those seats look so much better. I'm really surprised someone was willing to make that trade with you. Guess someone must want the MJ bench after all. Usually MJ buckets, especially the good Eliminator versions go for a damn king's ransom unless you build them yourself from about 4 vehicles worth of parts or get really lucky :)
  20. I believe there's a strip of velcro on the inside of the lower dash, about where the vent is. At least that's where it was on the XJ I pulled my module out of as I've been too lazy to add the velcro to my own truck.
  21. Sorry I didn't see this. Yeah, it was a horrible experience but it turned out alright I think. As a result of it I know way more about oil pans and rear main seals than I ever thought I would :) Your truck looks great. It's got that clean understated look I like and the wheels and tires suit it really well. When the time comes I'm considering those exact tires for my '89. I feel exactly the same way as you do about the stupid Renix cooling system. When I went to test drive the '89 before I bought it the plastic bottle split open and sprayed me with antifreeze, so I hated it even before I bought the truck :D I have the 3-core version of that CSF radiator plus an ATF cooler in the '91 and so far I love it. I don't think I've seen the upper radiator hose temp go above 190 ever since I put the radiator in, and the temperature gauge stays put like it does in a new car  If the heater valve ever gives you trouble you can just delete it and run straight hose to the heater core. I broke the one on the '91 the first time I ever touched it and I really haven't noticed a difference after replacing it with straight hose. The 97+ XJs didn't even have it, so it's not really a necessity - and you can use the 97+ heater hoses in place of the valve. Oh yeah, nice that you got the chance to dump the 3.07 gears quick. Maybe my 89 is just down on power but even with 27" tires I have to downshift to make it up hills. Yuck.
  22. Aww, you two are so cute. The '91 looks to have two washer plugs. Looks just like the one that's plugged in at the base of the bottle.
  23. M = 1,000 + CM = 1900 + L = 1950 + X = 1960 + X = 1970 + X = 1980 + IX = 1989 For those who don't know.
  24. Interiors were better, too. Coming from a well running 91, my '89 isn't that bad. The cooling system deserves every bit of hate it gets though.
