  1. nteresting reading. A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse over loose fiscal policy, (which is) always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years. During those 200 years, these nations always progressed through the following sequence: From bondage to spiritual faith; From spiritual faith to great courage; From courage to liberty; From liberty to abundance; From abundance to complacency; From complacency to apathy; From apathy to dependence; From dependence back into bondage. The Obituary follows: Born 1776, Died 2012 Interesting facts concerning the last Presidential election: Number of States won by: Obama: 19 McCain: 29 Square miles of land won by: Obama: 580,000 McCain: 2,427,000 Population of counties won by: Obama: 127 million McCain: 143 million Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Obama: 13.2 McCain: 2.1 In aggregate, the map of the territory McCain won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of the country. Obama territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in low income tenements and living off various forms of government welfare. The United States is now somewhere between the "complacency and apathy" phase with some forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the "governmental dependency" phase. If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegals - and they vote - then we can say goodbye to the USA in fewer than five years. If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.. This is truly scary! Of course we are not a democracy, we are a Constitutional Republic . Someone should point this out to Obama. Of course we know he and too many others pay little attention to The Constitution. There couldn't be more at stake than on Nov 6, 2012. If you are as concerned as I am please consider passing this along. Fathom the hypocrisy of a Government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured...but not prove they are a citizen.
  2. Doesn't remove anything. Just paints it to blend in.
  3. used the mail in ballot a week ago.
  4. Last time I was up in that area there was a well stocked junk yard just North of Bellingham, WA. The border crossing at Blaine was just a formality. Just saying,,,,,,,

  6. The Willys I've owned After reading that article I kind of remembered some of the Willys, Jeeps I've owned in my short lifetime. I've only listed complete ones. Not junkers. And in no particular order. Only as they come to mind. 1944 MB 1947 CJ 1947 PU 2ea. 1949 SW 1950 SW 1952 CJ ???? FC 150 ???? FC 170 2 ea 1954 Aero Lark 1955 Aero 1957 P/U 1962 CJ5 1964 P/U Gladiator 1065 Gladiator 1967 Waggoneer 1963 Waggoneer 1970 J10 The first, and only Jeep i bought new off the dealer 1973 Waggoneer 1974 J10 1975 CJ5 1977 J20 Still have 1983 Waggoneer 1983 J 10 1974 CJ 5 still have 1976 J10 1974 Cherokee Over 18 MJ'S, still have 8 4-5 XJ'S 1987 MJ DD summer driver 1986 MJ Winter driver 1993 ZJ DD 2001 Grand Cherokee, totaled when I rolled it off Taylor pass. Thats about it. Know I missed a couple but that pretty well covers what I remember.
  7. Has to be a 1947-1949. They didn't come out with the 'V' grill until 1950.
  8. No. They only came out with a straight 6 or 8 cylinder flathead.
  9. It's NOT a Jeep. Like the tag says, it's manufactured by Willys who later built the vehicle that came to be known as 'Jeep',
  10. Go for it. That's how I wind up with so many extra parts.
  11. ?????WTF????? GF drove her Dodge into town today. She was so happy with it she baked me a pan full of chocolate chip cookies. The Dodge stealership guesstimate on it was a $1000 and a week. I saved her $900 and 3 days down time and I get $5 worth of cookies? Repeat the first line
  12. 4000 is not normal. My '87 2.5 with 5 spd and 3;55 runs around 2000 RPM at 75MPH. A dry speedo cable will cause a jumping needle, as will a speedo going bad. Remove the cable clean and lube it. Re-install.
  13. That's what I did with the wife when she crying about driving my '62 Austin Healy 3000. She took me up on it and got so good she placed third in a SCCA rally in North Bend. Her first race against two dozen pro's.
  14. Just can't understand why anyone would need a door lock cylinder for. And as for the rod, if you can't find one closer to home, i got one. Pay the freight on it an it's yours. And as to removing the rod from the cylinder, Let it drop down into the door. Give you more room to work. It will come off just by twisting and sliding the cylinder. I've found sometimes they get cruddy and by using a steel wool pad, or similar, cleaning up the curves at the end of the rod helps. The rod could still be attached to the door locking mechanism up by the inner handle. Find it hard to believe it just fell off. You will have to remove it to install a new one anyway. It may have fell off and is laying in the bottom of the door.
  15. It's all back together and working OK. Rebuilt pump an new pulley. Flushed the system. Can't believe the crap came out of it. Everything except a pair of Maggies drawers. Think I bent the handle on my 20 ton press squeezing that pulley on.
  16. Interesting reading. All the comments posted BEFORE the storm hit the fan. I'm a hard *ss but I still feel for the folks caught in this mess.
  17. A puller was the first thing I tried. It just pulled 3 chunks out of the metal hub. Anyway it's a moot point now. Busted the plastic off and left the metal hub on and turned it in with the core. New pulley cost $15. Wish I'd just done that in the first place and saved myself an hour of frustration. Had a Allen head in the shaft which made me think it might be a screw on. It wasn't. I'm getting to old for this sh*t.,,,,,I been saying that for the last 20 years. One of these days I'm gonna quit...... How cold is it now in Hell?
  18. That looks like a universal hitch. The draw bar is the same for all and the end mounting plates are made for the different installations.
  19. How in holy begezas do you, I, remove the pulley from a power steering pump?. Is it a press fit or threaded? 2006 Dodge 1500, 5.7 engine. HELP!!!!!

    Faaaaack!!!!

Classic can be defined in as many different ways as there are people defining the term. Before I moved into the country I was constantly being harassed by the city for the junk cars in my yard. I made the proper appointment to appear before the weekly city commission so I could plead my case and inform them of the difference between junkers and classics. No soap. They didn't buy it. Gave me 30 days to clear the yard or fine-jail time. Picking up my notes I told them that they wouldn't know a classic from a junk if they had one of each shoved up their f*cking *ss. End of meeting. I kinda forgot that city commission meetings were aired live over the local TV station.
  21. Checked with the GF to see if I could get one. She said no. Looking for a new GF. Line forms on either side.
  22. The Caddy? Hanging my head in shame. Never even thought of it.
  23. Doesn't look like it would be beyond the capabilities of any halfway competent welder to duplicate. I've modified one S10 and one Dodge Ram rear bumper to fit a MJ by removing the mounts and welding on the MJ mounts which I fabricated from copying a MJ bumper mount.
