  1. Not even going to bid on it this time. If they want me to have it, they're going to have to bring up here and give it to me.
  2. I welded a pair of horse shoes once. As I was laying-lying?- in the hospital it occurred to me that maybe I should have removed them from the horse first.
  3. The whole point here is tire patch contact with the ground. With the wide variety of tires on the market, I'm sure you could find a single tire with the same contact area as a set of duals.
  4. A balled up rag or sponge dipped in solvent and elbow grease. That's why they have power washers.
  5. Good buy on the steel and Ford.
  6. Was there in Jan-May 1969. They had a fancy gadget that was going to 'Nam and they didn't want to send one of there over paid white collar engineers with it so they looked for a tech who was smart enough to learn the system but dumb enough to enter a hot zone. Wound up with the 1st Marine Division in DaNang, Loved Los Alamos. The country was a Jeeper- out doors man paradise. Was over every trail in them mountains plus made a few new ones of my own.
  7. I've never done it so I'm no authority on the subject. I've removed a couple columns and see no reason why it can't be done. Assuming the auto is a console shift and not column. Might be easier to just swap the whole column rather piecing one together.
  8. Looks like some body had some fun. Who wash's it? You or the wife-GF?
  9. Ain't nothing worse than a drunk stone. Or should that be a stoned drunk?
  10. Fella backed out the deal. Decided he didn't want to give it away after all. He's the one I got the MJ from. Belonged to his dad who passed away. I tried to keep this thread and the diesel thread together as one post but it got screwed up and had to make two posts out of it. As soon as it warms up it's getting washed. Really curious as to what it will look like clean and polished.
  11. Thinks anybody that would deliberately sink under water is crazy. That's why I joined the paratroopers.
  12. Turn it the same way you turn a track vehicle.Lock the brakes on one side and give it the gas. Which makes me ask. Why not put tracks on it in the first place?
  13. :USAflag: :group beer: :USAflag:
  14. It must work. They look good.
  15. I've found just plain ol kitchen detergent works as good as any degreaser out there. Get as much off as you can with a putty knife, wire brush, then wash it down with a stiff brush and dish soap.

  18. I think it's the grade of the sandpaper used, IE, 1000fine, not 60coarse. Anyway got a scrap pile full of head lite lenses to practice on before doing a MJ. Think I'll try a Scotch pad. See how they work. Just don't want to screw up a MJ lense.
  19. Found Wolfpackjeeper's write up. Don't know how I missed it. Was pretty much what I was looking for. So now to get started. Tnx Guys.
  20. Nice drum beat.
  21. :agree: My pet peeve also
  22. I'll try searching DIY again. Didn't find anything the first time. And I figured the sandpaper, paint tricks was somebody trying to joke the jokester.
  23. Any body got a fool proof method to clean, polish up plastic tail light lenses without ruining them? I have several that are faded, sun bleached and I would like to clean them. I've used some products on plastic and it scarred it so bad had to throw them away. Don't want to do that with MJ lenses.
  24. Was out cleaning the newbie up this AM. Has several firsts for me. First MJ, or XJ that I ever got with the original AM-FM-cassette tape player. THEY ALL WORK! Has all paper work from the day the the original owner picked it up at the dealership till he parked it in 2001. Went out the door for $7,995, Had the extended warranty 7years, 70,000 miles, owners manual, etc. Needs new battery, upper radiator hose, washed. Looks like the water pump is OK. Needs a new gasket. Tires. Did I mention washed? Finally found some rust. Light surface rust on back side rear bumper. Spare looks like original tire. Never been on the ground. Would like to find one like this more often.
