I got a Chrysler 8.25 for sale out of a 2dr cherokee

Get an aluminum coolant reservoir. I had overheating issues and then got a Mac radiator diamond aluminum tank and it fixed all my problem. I even had a brand new radiator and it still over heated due to the crappy plastic reservoirs.

Dana 30 re-gearing

What gear ratio is in the xj d30? 8.8 is 4.10 right? http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-16502363-yukon-dana-30-reverse-hp-4-10-ring-pinion.html http://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-126965-dana-30-reverse-cjinstall-kit-master.html That's basically all you need, Unless the current gears in the d30 are really low, Then you'll need a different carrier. I'm not sure what they are because the tabs are gone. And ya the 8.8 is 4.10sBTW how's the exo cage? I think I might build something like ryansatrocks one. I have all the tools and I've help build one so I think I might give it a whirl in the near future Spin the tire once, Count how many times the pinion spins. IIRC 3.73 & Above is the carrier you need. 3.55 & below is the wrong carrier Cage is coming along nicely, Got 90% of the front cut out & tack welded together. Tomorrow we should finish the whole front cage, Probably take it off & completely weld it too. Other then that is it a direct swap over? Also, because I no longer need the vaccum because of my ax15 t case, can I just take it all out? -
Another AX15 problem

Make sure those doules that hold on the dust cover are in the motor not the Tranny. For some reason when I was doing my swap it wouldn't go all the way in unless the doules were in the motor holes -

So for about 3 months now Ive had a ford 8.8 ready to swap in including a new 5.5 inch lift. :doh:I have everything to do the lift and swap and i know how to do it, but i haven't yet because its different gearing then my dana 30 upfront right now and i need a drivable car and 4wd here in the upcoming colder months. But now that i have this 1995 4wd cherokee with a non CAD dana 30, I'm going to pull it out and have it re geared and put that in my comanche. I'm not going to build it up yet because i don't have the money because i started school and can't work as much, but i just want to replace what i should and get the parts to re-gear it. I'm just wondering what i need to buy for a re gearing? thanks. Id like to get the parts so that i can do this ford 8.8 swap, new 5.5 alexia lift and then this dana 30 all in one weekend. BTW I'm not doing it myself, but i just want to have all the parts ready to bring to the shop. also, the shop in town here is cool with bringing in your own parts. . :MJ 1: . (me after swap)

I might have to copy the bed roll cage idea. I want a roof rack but would love to have some protection. -

Another AX-15 swap thread.

The speedo is a direct swap. Just make sure it's seated all the way or it won't work. I just learned this today from first hand experience. Lol -
Could your exhaust be lose? I just had this problem yesterday because I forgot to tighten nuts
-
Ya I have heard that too but a mechanic friend told me to just get a bushing made and it was only 30 bucks and took 30 mins and I didn't know about the CJ thing until recently
-
Get a pilot bushing made that's the same size OD as the renix pilot sleeve and a ID of the shaft size. That's what I had to do and didn't know about it until I was in the middle of the swap. I got mine made out of brass

Flares and tire clearence
Jackrabbit41 replied to chopper35nj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just get some Napier precision fender flares. Much cheaper then bush wackers and look better. They'll clear up to 33s with no lift -
So since I've done my ax15 swap, I have a slow oil leak and my speedos not working. It's so wet here that I don't want to crawl under all the way to check for this oil leak because id be in a puddle so I have just been monitoring my oil level. My theory is that when I put on the new oil pan gasket, I didn't put rtv on the corners like the directions said so I think it could be leaking out around there but i haven't really look so that'd help. Also my speedos not working. It's all the way screwed it and seated and is connect to the little yellow speedo gear. Any advice for either? Thanks

1987 comanche first car
Jackrabbit41 replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in Member Projects: Your Comanches
tranny is all in. I started school right in the middle of it so i didn't get to finish it until the following saturday. it went well other then i might have an oil leak and i couldn't get a U-Joint all the way seated in so i had to take it to a shop but it was free so that was dope. this oil leak is just worrying me. it could be the oil pan gasket because i didn't put any sealant on the corners of it like the directions said (didn't read them until it was all said and done) or hopefully not the rear main. i replaced it and had no problems with it. maybe I'm wrong about this oil leak. ill just have to keep monitoring my oil levels. -

Did Midas do that complete install? I really need an upgrade in that area. -
Ya I have both linkages out but just need to put it back on
-
Also, I haven't done it yet but is the linkage a direct swap over? I have everything else done but I didn't have time to put in the linkage
