Ax15 seals, bearing and clutch
Jackrabbit41 replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
So this is my plan for the swap. If anyone sees anything I need to add or change please tell me. I'm just trying to be as ready as I can for the swap this weekend. 1. Replace TOB 2 pull slave and master from parts vehicle 3. Get linkage out and brackets from parts vehicle 4. Remove driveline from comanche 5. Pull the clutch and a throng else that's in the way of the pilot bearing 6. Remove oil pan and replace that gasket and the rear main seal. Then put it back on 7. Put on new clutch and pilot bearing and whatever else is with the clutch 8. Put in linkage 9. Put in master and slave and pedal 10. Put in ax15 11. Put on t case (or should I do the tranny and t case at the same time already together?) 12. Put on crossmember and drives shafts 13. Put on shifter and boots. 14. Put in fluids (or should o do that before hand) 15.All done, no problems good to go (: (I wish) -

I got oil for the tranny but do I use the same for the t case? Also do I just fill them up until it comes out of the hole? -

I need to know it all for the AX15 swap
Jackrabbit41 replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
do i need to use the master out of the cherokee? i just put in a new one on my comanche, will the external slave fit up to that? i don't even know how it all goes together, ill have to look also i got a pilot bearing for the ax15, can i just swap that into the comanche and it'll fit right up? i know the size changed after 91 or something like that. I'm just not 100% sure what that means for me. -

So after so looking around, i know where the TOB goes, and i think i know where the rear main seal is (behind the pressure plate and flywheel right? that general area), but i don't have a clue where that little pilot bearing goes or this other little hard feeling plastic oil seal goes. also does the t case take the same fluid as the tranny or what? and is the t case out of this 95 cherokee i have a 231? thanks all -
Lee's "What the hэll am I doing" Comanche

Yea, Thats at sumas. My truck & a toyota both broke a front axle on that trail, like 20 feet from each other lol If you're planning on putting a locker in the front, Do it while you have it re-geared. So you don't have to pay to set up the gears twice. If I do one it'll be a selectable but I know those are damn expensive and after this week I'm not working anymore because of school so my cash flow is taking a dive. I won't be able to do much to my truck for awhile. -

Is that sumas? btw I probably won't swap the 8.8 until I have a Dana 30 ready to swap in with 4.10s so it'll a be awhile -

Also, the clutch I got is for the cherokee, is that right or should I return it and get the one for the comanche? -
This weekend and next Monday and Tuesday are my last few days off so those 4 days I'm going to use to do the tranny swap. I got the tranny out last week and this week I've been buying some parts. I've got a new clutch, main seal and a rear seal (I think it's something like that). The Napa guy said the clutch came with a TOB and a pilot bearing, so hopefully that's true. I've never done anything like this so other then the clutch I have no idea where or what I need to do. Where are the seals and how do put them in? Where are the 2 bearings I listed above and how do I put those in? Does the clutch just bolt on or what? Thanks If you can pics would be nice. I've watched some videos but will confused on where and what stuff is.

Well since you have the external slave it's probably not as important to replace it as it was for me. But I'd make sure your clutch is good. It's easy to take out the oil pan with the transmission out, so if you have any leaks going on there now's the time to do it. You'll want to use the AX15 bracket since it has the support arm/groove thing for the tongue on the catalytic converter/exhaust and I doubt you want that flapping around. If you have access to the crossmember I'd use it as well. Ok thanks and also, what should I do about the linkage? Do I use the linkage from my comanche or the donor cherokee? -

I have a budget 3 incher that the PO installed from rough country and its ok. it squeaks. and to post pics, it took my awhile, just make an account of photo bucket. then download the pics to that account. then you can copy and paste the image address toin the thing on the too bar on this website that looks like a paper clip with a green plus underneath it and then push enter. you won't see the photo until you actually post it. all it will be is a link thats blue. -

Parts vehicle questions
Jackrabbit41 replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Ya it was smooth sailing until the very last bolt, the inverted torx, stripped. I took a brake after that and I'm going to get at it again soon. Probably just going to weld a nut in it and do it that way -
Mine closes by just slamming it shut, you don't have to pull the handle at all

Parts vehicle questions

After I swap on my 8.8, I'm going to have to get 4.10s in my Dana 30. Should I just pull out this Dana 30 from my cherokee and build it a little while it's out and out 4.10s in it and then swap it in? -

Does anyone have any recommendations for shocks after I do my 8.8 swap? I'm doing the alexia lift so it 6 inches in the back and 5.5 in the front. I have everything but the shocks
