Parts vehicle questions
Jackrabbit41 replied to Jackrabbit41's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I would like to put on some new parts on the ax15 before I get it in like a new slave cylinder and main seal. Is there a rebuild kit that anyone would recommend? Or any other ideas? -

1995 Manual Transmission XJ?if it's a 4.0L it would have 3.07's if it's a 2.5L it would have 4.10's If it's really a D44, it must have been swapped in my a previous owner. Factory installed XJ Dana 44's were long long gone by 1995, so it's anyones guess what gears it has. More likely it's an Dodge 8.25" axle then with the manual trans, it's 3.07's, or 4.10's depending on which engine it has. Good luck and keep posting pics Ya it's a manual 5 speed with an ax15 (that's why I got it) and it has a 4.0. I thought it was a Dana 44 just cause it looked bigger then a 35 but I really had/have no idea -

Just took her for a spin around the block. She runs good but the battery is totally shot. I was hoping it had 4.10s but both of the tabs that say on the diff are gone so I don't know what It has -

Just got myself a 1995 2 door 4x4 Cherokee with a manual tranny. Using it for parts. The doors are manual windows and locks so I'm leaving those on but I'm taking out the motor tyranny Seats and brake booster. Pics coming tomorrow -
So I just got a 95 2 door manual 4x4 xj for 650$. Runs and drives good. 228000 miles. I want to pull the buckets, ax15, and the motor and make it a 4.7l (maybe just rebuild it and swap it). The doors aren't electric so I don't want those. What else should I yank out? It has a Dana 44 but I already have a ford 8.8. Should I do the motor swap? And any suggestions on pulling the tranny? I've never done anything like this so suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks Pictures coming soon. I'm still driving back with my dad right now.

I know i have a lsd but what is a friction modifier? It's an additive for gear oil for axles with LSD You can either buy oil WITH it, Or buy a bottle of it seperately & add it yourself. RTV silicone works great for a gasket. Did you weld your tubes to the housing? Yea, We just cold welded it & did a few 1" welds How are they holding up? -

So i found an ax15. It would come with everything. Shifter, linkage, cross member, transfer case, used but recently new clutch and the tranny. It's 500$ but is still internal slave. Any thoughts anyone? I'm still working on my dad -
What fluid should I put in my ford 8.8? Should I use a gasket, or the make your own gasket sealant? I've watched some videos on how to weld the tubes to the housing, does this sound right? Preheat the housing (I don't know how Much), weld 2-3 inches at a time changeing sides and spots each time. Let cool slowly by wrapping in blankets or towels.

So what makes it an ax15? -
S0 i think I'm going to get one out of an 89 with a transfer case and crossmember. its only 100$. I'm going to put it on craigslist when i get it and try to sell it but if not I'm just going to convert it to external and whatever else i need to do and slap her in.

My dad doesn't want another jeep at the house so I don't have any place to store it. I thought he'd be cool with it for like a week but he said no so I guess I'll have to keep looking for just the driveline not a whole jeep -

That link is to a 95 Cherokee. It runs and drives. 750$ I'd take the seats too. Would that be a good donor? -
