1. Well bad news guys I got all done in the back and started in the front then I realized that the back was too high. Turns out my leaf pack isn't stock so I was about 12 inch lift. I had to Take it all off then out the d35 back in because I need my truck by Monday. So I'll order the springs when I get the money then I'll start again.
2. Started 8.8 swap today. It a friday. Tomorrow I'm hoping i can finish but something always goes wrong. I'm doing my RMS today tomorrow and putting in HP 30 ">http:// ">http:// ">http://http://s1148.photobucket.com/user/Jackrabbit123/media/IMG_4867_zpsutedztqu.jpg.html'>
3. Thanks. After k get those I'm starting the swap tonight! Really excited to finally do this
4. Can you buy them new, or just JY them? I need some new seals.
5. So I'm doing my 8.8 swap and i decided that it was good to wait until the day before to figure this out (not). So after rolling this thing around 500 times the brake lines are kinda catywompus. They are in good shape but i just need to put it back. Also my main concern is do the 8.8 brake lines go right into the stock comanche lines? thanks here's some pics of what I have going on. ">http:// ">http:// ">http:// I bought new extended brake lines, the ones off of alexia lift kit and so I have longer ones but will those work? thanks Edit/ Also does anyone know what threads are in the 8.8 yoke? I got the flange adapter but I need to get some grade 8 hardware for it.
6. here's my new 4wd shift linkage. I was going to make my own but this wasn't going to be much cheaper so i just bought this. ">http://http://s1148.photobucket.com/user/Jackrabbit123/media/IMG_4861_zpsapifx9ig.jpg.html'>
7. Cable drivin speedo. Ever since I did ax15 swap speedo hasn't worked. The cable works(put a drill on it and it worked), the speedo gear looks good and so does the gear inside the t case. Also the speedo is snug on the cable. Could the two gears just not be meshing? I need a different ratio any way so maybe I should finally get a different one.
8. I got a 210 mp lincoln last summer so I am no pro welder, but Id say that harbor fright will be perfect for that. It doesn't have to be that strong of welds and the metal is thin. Just make sure to look up welding videos and stitch weld it. I did my floor boards with my welder and stick welded it and it turned out great. Just put some sort of sealant around the welds too. Also, get an auto darling helmet. They're cheap but more money then non autoe ones but they are a PITA
9. At the end theres a back to back comparison
10. So put in some hush mat on the roof and behind the seat, then i installed my headliner. Its sooooooo much quieter in their. I'm going to hush mat the whole cab now that I know it works so well. Ill post a video on youtube of it here soon. Ill link it in a bit.
11. Thanks! its been a lot of fun. My grand parents gave me that 5k and after about 3 months it was all gone! haha, now every time my paycheck comes in it doesn't last long either. I think i have an obsession. lol
12. SMS custom comanche headliner and visor fabric. It's all curled up due to it being in a box for a week or so. I got hush mat coming tomorrow, then i'll put it all in. ">http://http://s1148.photobucket.com/user/Jackrabbit123/media/image1_zpsqdb4vezz.jpg.html'>
13. So ever since I put in my ax15 and put in a new RMS, it's leaked. I have to fill it up about once a week. I've replaced a few things like the oil filter gasket and the valve cover is only a few months old. There is no other leaks that I can see o the motor but I know that lots of things can look like the rear main as the motor tilts back. I'm just pretty sure it is becuase it wasn't leaking before I put in a new one and it is now. And when we put it in my dad and I were very careful not to strip of any of the rubber groove thing. I'm just wondering if there's anything else that y'all think it could be. I'm doing my front and rear axle swap next weekend and when I'm swapping in the front i thought I should fix it while it's accessible. Also other then just puting it in, is there any techniques or things to make sure it don't leak no more? Thanks
14. Why did you use a PCV valve for the axle vent? The axle vent should be open to the atmosphere to allow internal pressures built up by hot gasses to escape. Depending on which PCV valve you have it is acting either as an incoming or outgoing check valve - not good. You should replace the PCV valve with a fitting open to the atmosphere both ways or you may have axle seal leaks down the road. Like this one or similar. Even a 1/8 NPT hose adapter fitting would be better than the PCV valve. http://www.jegs.com/i/JEGS-Performance-Products/555/60116/10002/-1?parentProductId=756432 So I did have a PCV valve that only let stuff out but I ended up swapping it out for an open fitting and I'm just gonna run a 6ft hose up into the engine bay and make it curly q so it doesn't let water down.
15. Hopefully in a weeks time, Ill have all this in the 'manche. ">http://http://s1148.photobucket.com/user/Jackrabbit123/media/IMG_4810_zps61ivgqed.jpg.html'>
16. I fixed it all good now
17. I just looked and the belt is shredded. I drove it home but I live like 3 mins away so it didn't get to hot
18. I didn't check any gauges but I guess actually looking under the hood will help. Haha
19. I was into driving it for about 1 minute after it happened so wouldn't it stil run but just not get any flow from the water pump?
20. Thanks I'll look after school
21. Also when I parked it at school it sounded like something was spinning really fast and slowly slowing down
22. Yes I know the best way to find a problem is to go look yourself, but I'm at school so I can't for a few hours and I need my truck tonight so hopefully I can get this fixed. In the way to school today, I heard a pop after I went around a corner and my power steering was gone. Is it just my belt? Easy fix? Thanks
23. My uncle has a Manx like that but it's orange. Looks awesome!
24. Should I just go to a junkyard and pull off the steering from a zj? No. The only difference is a slightly stronger tie rod (and that's only on the V8 models). It really isn't much of an upgrade. I've seen them bend just as easy as stock XJ rods. As was stated above, the entire stock XJ steering is weak when you go offroad. There are a bunch of companies who make nice 1 ton set-ups. They come with heavy duty TREs and heavy duty drag link and tie rod. You ream out your knuckles and bolt up the new stuff. It's pretty simple, a whole lot stronger, and only costs a couple hundred bucks. He mostly drives on the road, with very little actual offroading. The v8 tie rod is a hell of a lot stronger than the stock xj/mj setup. http://www.ironrockoffroad.com/11060.html This is the OTK 1ton steering i got, If you want i can run over & show you it in person. Yeah, if he stays on the road, it will be fine. But why is he swapping in an 8.8, doing SOA, and considering 35s just to stay on the road :brows: Cause why not? Why do people build up mustangs and camaros and never go to the drag strip? Um, when is the last time you saw a hopped up mustang or camaro out wheeling on the trails. That's the equivalent of putting an MJ on 35s and staying on the street. Hey, don't get me wrong .... I'm all for doing whatever you think is cool to your vehicle .... better to be working in the garage than sitting around watching TV, regardless of what you're building. I just don't understand putting all that time, work, and money into lifting a truck if you are going to stay on the street. It will actually perform WORSE on the street ... ride worse, handle worse, get worse mileage, tow worse, and be much more prone to breaking. It just seems silly to me. Especially if you are already on a tight budget. I don't wheel very McIntyre becuase I want my truck to stay nice, but after I do this lift and buil a new rear bumper I'm planning on taking this thing out a lot more then I do now. I just haven't been able to do any offroad for the past couple months becuase I don't have my 4wd hooked up beau se my linkage is all messed up. After I swapped in my ax15 I haven't had 4wd but bopefully I'll have it back soon
25. Doesn't look super good, but I got this band saw for free from where I work at Imco Construction. It has a bad cooling fluid pump and it trips the breaker when under a heavy cut but other then that it's flawless. pretty stoked ">http:// ">http://http://s1148.photobucket.com/user/Jackrabbit123/media/IMG_4788_zpsfi8kvy0l.jpg.html'> grizzly G0561 Bandsaw
