people suck. could be worse though. at least it didn't cause an accident. heck, Bo lost his whole truck due to someone putting something in his fuel tank.
yeah, it's just one of those things that will never have a consensus. just be cautious and inspect before buying. check for cracked rubber and wallowed out pivot holes (and don't throw the old windows out, just in case).

I disagree. I'd prefer nothing. I spent a few years reaching in to grab the little rods and I'd prefer that to the rectangle peg in the trapezoidal hole. plus it gave me a place to mount a flag.
