I'm assuming the 242 found under KJs would work? they are quite common.

I still feel it was a good idea (helps fix the "too hot to touch" issue if you need to do a trail repair under the hood), but it clearly had some unforeseen drawbacks. but also maybe my engine bay is just stinkier than most.

Turbine’s actually worth anything?

as with all things, the going price is dependent on condition, scarcity in your area, and luck. If yours are for sale, pick a price and plop them in the classifieds on CC, craigslist and faceybook and see what the people looking to buy say. they are the ones whose opinion matters most. -

there are shortcuts. these are pre-shrinkwrapped, low-temp solder units that you can use a hot air gun (with the funnel tip) to melt. there are other sizes too. https://www.ebay.com/itm/50Pcs-Waterproof-Seal-Red-Solder-Sleeve-Heat-Shrink-Tube-Wire-Crimp-Connectors/174232393059 -
you'll still need a later yoke. the speedo hookup is in the t-case and while your speedo cable will be too short, you can still plug in like normal once you get a 4wd version. you may need a long or short speedo gear shaft as I'm not sure which were used when. you'll also need to splice in to the new backup sensor. be sure to add the truck specs to you signature.

I don't generally comment on prices when a OBO is involved since they clearly are shooting for the sky by might possibly still have grounded expectations... But he states he's firm. 13k and I don't get a v8, or paint, or even armor? pass. There are $13k MJs out there, but I'm sorry dude, that's not one of them.

yup, 6th digit is a 3 which indicates Pioneer.

Stripped rear drum brakes

yeah, if this were me I'd use this as the perfect excuse for an upgrade. -
yeah, I've gotten more calls from friends/family in the last couple weeks than the last couple years about "can you come give me a jump?" or "can I borrow your battery charger?" trickle chargers are cheap people!

when I put the hood "scoop" on and in the process put a hole in the nice weather-tight factoryseal, I could then smell my engine bay at highway speeds. like, really strong. fortunately the scoop has a fan underneath (it's goal was for cooling the engine bay while on the trails) and turning it on pushed the stinky air forward into the airstream enough to carry it away from the cowl and the smells stopped. so I ran it like that from then on.

the axle is likely a stock dana 44 with special dually adapters bolted on. I believe the front had the same with special wheels? It's not a factory thing. it's an aftermarket kit. 2 different kits existed at the time, but I can't remember how to tell the difference. a search should bring up previous discussions with more info.

I know it's hard, but ya gotta be patient. this will take some time to sort out. Maybe think of it this way, Knowledge is key here and now you know more you knew before. Nothing fake about internet friends if they care about how you're doing. I'd hang out with you guy more often if y'all didn't live so friggin' far away.

rust free junkyard beds are still available. I'm just sayin'. dang that's awesome!!

today I upgraded the front speakers. it was a chore and a half because I believed the info I found on the internet. the doors are 6.75" (not 6.5) and the dash are... something less than the 3.5" that was recommended. But I persevered and fabbed adapters out of the old speaker housings for the doors and hacked out a bit of the dash to fit the 3.5s. The sound is much better than the paper cones. well worth the effort. Though next time I'll buy 6.75s and 3 inchers.

far as I know, all we know is that Jeep never offered it. But since they won't tell us why, it could be a mechanical reason, or it could be a "we don't think the customer needs this" type of reason. But other owners have swapped them in and they seem to work just fine. Just as long as it's not an 87-90 which would be 21 spline input. Although a 2.5L owner could use that.

I do believe your 2wd yoke will have the wrong spline count for the new t-case. what is the 242 coming from?
