  1. you should start a new thread about those issues. there are other things you can test.
  2. The cooling fan in my Liberty has a hi fan relay and a low fan relay. plug in one relay and the fan kicks on. take it out and plug in the other, the fan kicks on. plug both relays in at the same time and they both click and the fan dies. any guesses? short? insufficient ground?

nice! while you're waiting on a buildsheet/birthday, go start a build thread and explain what all you've done. I'll definitely need more pics of it with the bigger tires!
  4. no one makes an S-10 or ranger one? they might fit.
  5. well... the good news is it's on the dry side of the seal. that sucks though.
  6. after 10 total posts/replies, the classifieds will open up to you.
  7. just discovered that my cooling fan works if either of the Hi and Lo relays are plugged in, but turns off if both are plugged in at the same time. hurray for old Jeeps! truly the spice of life!
  8. I have 3 and a half. only 1.5 are street legal. plus I have parts from another, let's say, 50 that are looooooong gone. math is fun! what were we doing again?
  9. looks good! can you do a separate writeup about the 242 mods for the DIY subforum?
  10. welcome to the addiction! looks like a solid truck be sure to add her to the registry
  11. Jeep owners helping their fellow Jeep owners spend all the money.
  12. a-yup. those joints are toasty. I'm just going to post a pic of the Liberty, as the to-do list is loooong and other things keep cropping up that bump it down the list.
  13. the gearing could be anything, guys. it was 86 after all. ya gotta check to know for sure. as to the lift, be sure to read up and buy a kit that actually includes all the parts. just because it's sold as a "kit" doesn't mean it's complete. your mpg will always drop with height and bigger tires, but it's a Jeep, no one buys it for the miles per gallon. it's all about the smiles per gallon.
  14. the ratio won't always come up since a lot of AMC info was lost before it could be inserted into Chrysler's computers. But I can say with confidence that it came with the 3.08s from the factory. that doesn't mean it still has 'em though. anything can happen in 3 decades.
  15. ratio can be determined by spinning 1 tire around twice and counting the times the driveshaft spins. about 3 times is a 3.07
  16. everything that's Comanche-specific is worth money. whether or not it's profitable depends on the junkyard's prices.
  17. don't forget to include the Liberty 8.25 and Explorer 8.8 in your choices.
  18. so I just heard a rumor has it that Key Parts is planning on making replacement MJ taillights. The company sells all sorts of restoration car parts so does that mean our trucks are finally classic enough to garner the attention of the classic aftermarket? The rumor comes from someone that claims to have sold them several taillights and a truck. No timeline was given, so this could be soon, or not soon, or never. Plus who knows what the quality or the price will be. I hesitate to get too excited, but here's hoping.
  19. dang. I would not have thought to check that.

  21. I don't know for sure. it's the right bolt pattern for sure, but I haven't measured the width. considering all the other commonalities with the first gen Liberty, I'd say you're good to go. Just measure before you buy.
