    Tool Talk

well, looks like I gotta go buy another tool.
  3. planning on driving from Atlanta to Detroit this weekend starting saturday. not much room available inside the Jeep for any parts, but I figure I can throw a pair of rockers on the top. I'm willing to drive a small amount out of my way (driving up I-75), but can't get crazy this trip with side quests. I'm still not certain how long I can drive before the knee starts to become an issue. this trip might end up being a multi-day endurance test. I'll also be in the Detroit area for a couple weeks, so there's plenty of time for you to come to me if you're nearby. $180 per side. this is an example pic. I'm not sure which pairs are left, but if someone is serious, I'll dig them out and snap pics for you. none have any rot, some might have minor dents or surface rust on the outside.
  4. this truck doesn't happen to have a ash tray light, does it?
  5. I can't promise success with your particular axle, but that's how it's done on other swaps.
  6. can't be braggin' without a 6 figure wagon. I'm just not seeing 6 figures of value in it.

    Overland MJs

I have a D-cell powered fan currently, but someday I'll be stepping up to this guy. might as well make use of all these dewalt batteries I already have, right? the big downside is that it isn't cheap.

I gotta get around to making something like that for the Liberty. the current plan of "wrapping the top of the door in screen and rolling down the window" works ok at night, but the entire concept makes opening the door during the day quite difficult because the screen keep falling down.

I've got buckets and yet still managed to spend more than my share of uncomfortable nights in the cab. are those holes individually screened? or are they to keep out those Alaskan mosquitos?
  12. are you contemplating a new project?
  13. looks solid
  14. gotta get me one of those someday.
  15. those are the little plates that hold the studs. (those are XJ though, which are same in the front but different in the back) I used five 1/4"-20 SS bolts (with fender washers) on each side to put the flares back onto my trailer. works just fine.
  16. are you referring to these?
  17. quick, someone compile everything into a spotify playlist!
  18. I made one too from a cut-down torx (I have a whole box of 40s) I have an 8mm socket on a mini breakerbar to start 'em.
  19. 30 inchers and 235s will fit no problems. 31s can fit with some caveats (namely the stock rims aren't all the same, and 31" tires aren't all the exact same size) some tire rub is possible on the lower arms (can be fixed with WJ lower arms)
  20. does it match the curve of the cab?
  21. is it weird that I now want to build up an MJ as a 2-tone Laredo on one side and a Pioneer on the other?
  22. google online driveshaft places like denny's or adam's. they should have instructions.
  23. it is not advise to have a shaft extended due to the challenge of re-balancing. but you can have your ends lopped off and welded on to a new tube. all depends on what you've got in your area for a driveshaft shop.
