  1. Does this mean you now get free groceries Knuck? Congrats to Publix and your girl. Both are lucky to have you.
  2. Obviously no one (including myself) can definitively answer your tailgate question with valid supporting facts. So try loading your 4wheeler using ramps w. or w/o the tailgate on your thirty year old truck- your choice. Personally, I'd err on the side of caution.
  3. Try this . Easy to do and see what happens to fuel pressure and your other fuel delivery symptoms.
  4. I do know truck manufacturers don't publish tailgate cable ratings for insurance liability reasons. But since the MJ tailgate uses levers, I think it's load rating would be higher than those with a cable. I've scanned through my MJ FSM specs and found nothing about tailgate load rating in there either. That said, agree with the above - just take it off when loading.
  5. Is your son's place close to you John?
  6. Did you cut a slot in the Ford clevis for the cable then squeeze it shut G? I didn't particularly care for that method when I did mine, but it's all I could think of at the time and has been working well for a number of years now. Also did you fab a return spring on the ebrake cable? Never did that, but ebrake returns fine with the eternal spring in the hat.
  7. Yes, although the cost was quite a bit less back then. They have a good rep and are a quality product.
  8. Why polish a turd? https://www.generalspringkc.com/product_p/97-571.htm
  9. Had an unusual animal "collision" years ago when I lived in VA while towing my boat in the early AM heading for the fishing lake. Came blasting around a corner on a quiet country road and came upon a flock of vultures feasting on a dead dog or something directly in my path. The vultures all started to fly up and rise, but one monster vulture loaded with dead meat rose up just to windshield height. I hit the bastid at about 60, it crashed through the passenger side windshield, and landed on on my front seat. I'm frantically trying to stop while this monster bird is alternately flapping around, puking, and trying to bite me. Ever smell buzzard puke? Got my truck stopped, ran out of the cab, and grabbed a shovel I had in the bed and beat the crap out it. Destroyed my front seat too. Truck was an old S10, I didn't care. True story - can't make up stuff like this. Oh, and comprehensive covered it all, including a new front bench and fumigation.
  10. It doesn't make any sense to me for someone to steal a unique one-of-a-kind vehicle like that. It's probably the only TDI powered Jeep Comanche in existence. Chances are whoever stole it must have known what it was and targeted it.
  11. OP, go HERE and read and heed. Especially the driveline angle section. Lot of bum dope being posted here.
  12. Recommend investing in a 1991 Factory Electrical manual like THIS one. 1991 was the first year of the Jeep HO's and has many unique electrical features not found even in the 1992 models. The best tool you can have if you do your own electrical repairs/mods.
  13. Would also be nice if you created a signature so people will know the specifics of your MJ.
  14. Good info Buck - thanks. I'll check out Hagerty for the MJ only. Geico is still very fine for all the new(er) stuff. I still don't like that annoying Brit lizard though.
  15. Let us know what you find buxmj and others. I've been with GEICO since the sixties. Back then it was open to government employees and military only. This made it convenient when stationed in foreign countries as I mostly was, because the family and I had the same coverage In Japan or Guam or France as we did in the USA. And they had local reps readily available - all was well. After the military I became a government employee still residing in various foreign countries, so I stayed with GEICO. Then in the mid-70's Warren Buffet et al got involved and soon GEICO had a lizard for a spokesperson / thingy, they started insuring the world, and things started to go downhill. We still stuck with GEICO though, because they still took care of things overseas locally when Ms. Chan or someone slammed into our truck/car/motorcycle. Still with GEICO after all these years mainly because of the healthy discounts I get. But I have a ton of $$ in my rig too, and I want to at least get most of it back if something bad happens. Will be following this thread closely looking for alternatives for the MJ.
  16. Yes they did, and I'm not sure why. Maybe the Mopar/AMC engineers thought the export Jeeps would run faster across the pond? But seriously, I think it was a marketing tool that would hopefully impress prospective buyers.

  18. Yes, the factory tranny cooling line quick-connectors do fit the FFD radiator cooler elbows. The radiator tranny cooler isn't much - it's tiny. I also have the factory towing package cooler and plumbed in a larger aftermarket cooler (Tru-Cool p/n LPD49201) in series with it for the AW4 and abandoned the radiator cooler. The two aux coolers work well keeping the AW4 happy and since there is no more hot tranny fluid running through the radiator, the radiator stays cooler for the engine.
  19. The FFD radiator is not made in China. And it does have the bung with the correct thread for the Renix temp sensor, circled below. I have one and it works well cooling the stroker.
  20. Me too. In case you haven't noticed, that's the norm here when the OP disappears after introducing an interesting problem. Speculation maximus occurs. Nothing wrong with that. At least the conversation is flowing.
  21. What PCM and VSS are you using? Is the VSS 2-wire or 3-wire?
  22. This ^^. Don't do it.
  23. Dana 44 Spindle Glad I read this thread. When I read that you were supposed to use red Loctite on the pinion yoke nut when setting the preload it rang my bell - I forgot to do it when I installed the u-bolt pinion yoke last year. Luckily I had some original install pics and saw that there were three threads showing at the end of the yoke shaft when finished. Crawled under and checked - still three threads showing so the nut didn't back off. This time I staked the nut on with a center punch at two opposite sides on the shaft just to be safe it never will back off. Thanks for that..
