  1. What's the mileage? Any idea how many owners?
  2. Great looking Eliminator Ace, and with the rare factory 4WD option too. It's definitely a keeper, and you are doing a great job with it so far. Congrats on MJOTM!
  3. The never-ending rust fight. Looks like you are winning.
  4. Thanks Fred, but my stuff is filthy junk compared to this guy. His MJ builds and attention to detail are like no one else's. The man really knows his stuff.
  5. I've never swapped mine, and have never heard the MJ and XJ boxes were different except for w. AC and w/o AC. What makes them different? They carry the same part number in the factory parts manual - item #1 below:
  6. Added a bit more bling to the engine compartment by replacing the factory plastic heater hose holder with a couple of aftermarket stainless heater hose clamps on the 97+ hoses.
  7. Those things are flimsy at best especially if you're using the longer distance hole on the springs. The only thing good about them is that they are cheap. I'd change them out for a pair of HD extended Teraflex shackles or similar.
  8. LMAO - that must be why I have the heart of a 25 year old.
  9. What are you using for rear shackles? How are the bushings?
  10. 1. The Throttle Valve (TV) cable is probably out of adjustment. Do this:
  11. Yep, they set higher, that's for sure. Thanks for the pics - and forgot you sold the MJ. You need to get another.
  12. Any way you can take a couple of pics from the side when you can Jeff? Would like to see a measurement from the seat bottom to the cab roof if possible.
  13. Would be nice Master7122 and eliminate the guessing game if you create a signature to describe what you are driving. It's not hard...
  14. Unless it's an absolute emergency and I need a part NOW, I never go into any of the chain stores. And when I do (once or twice a year) I call ahead, give them their p/n of what I need beforehand so it's waiting for me, whether it's in stock or they have to order it with next day delivery. We do have an independent non-chain auto parts store in town who has somehow survived in business for about forty years, and I do frequent them the most. Mainly because they carry quality parts, are all longtime mostly family employees, and really know their stuff, including the family ladies. Plus I want to support them for the community and as a better alternative to the chain guys.
  15. Flocking A.
  16. What was the peak rear wheel HP / RPM?
  17. This. If you going to swap axles, ditch the drum brakes at the same time. Disk brakes are soo much better.
  18. What axle do you have? You either have a D44 or D35 rear axle in there now if it's a stock MJ axle. Check it out by the cover.
  19. You have two wires marked "Fan" tied there. I don't know if your setup is one or two fans and how they (it?) are wired but an aux fan can pull over 20A when starting up. And they (it) should each be fused with a 25A fuse(s) too. Have you traced out the "???" wires? I'll bet whatever they power isn't fused either.
  20. Good download HERE, the 88 Electrical manual. Look and see what's supposed to be connected to the starter relay and what's not. The HO's are completely different in that the started relay is a solid state relay in the PDC compartment and coexists with many of the same type relays for easy troubleshooting simply by swapping. Unfortunately you have a Renix, so it's all point-to-point...
  21. ^^^ Lose the obvious non-factory relay connections first, one at a time.
  22. If you ditched of that POS water control valve you would never have that problem again. It creates trapped air pockets in the system.
  23. Yes, you have to clean that mess up and see where those wires go. Most of that stuff is foreign wiring. NAPA's no better than any of the other parts houses, they buy C.R.A.P. from Won Hung Lo too. Grab a regulation Mopar relay HERE .
  24. Not true. 4.88 ratio "thick" R & P for D44 available here: https://eastcoastgearsupply.com/i-16500970-yukon-dana-44-4-88-thick-ring-pinion.html Description Yukon Gear 4.88 Thick Ring & Pinion for Dana 44 (Tech Note) Carrier break is 3.73/4.10, Look for Thick Cut gears to retain original carrier, marked with a T.
