  1. Virtually any AW4 used for your configuration (88, 4.0, 4x4) will work provided you use the matching TCU. They all function identically but there were some slight pin number changes in the wiring between the tranny and the controller. With a wiring diagram it's simple to match the transmission and it's controller. I just looked at our local jeep yard inventory for AW4's with your config - they have 14 transmissions available.
  2. Rape and pillage - that's good.
  3. Why the hell are you looking on Craigslist for only 88 XJs w. an AW4. That's a piss-poor indicator. Looks on car-parts.com for ANY year AW4 (in 2WD or 4WD whatever the OP has) and you'll find plenty with their TCUs available. Plus with a guarantee that it'll work, not from some redneck yahoo with a blown tranny. Nothing's drying up in the SE any more than everywhere else. The freaking cars are getting older, they are getting scrapped, everywhere equally. That's life. Quit whining...
  4. It's rubber molding attached using 3M double sided tape.
  5. Yes, all the Eliminators had custom graphics and body side moldings, including the black ones. For the graphics you can go here. For the body side moldings, good luck. I pieced mine together from various sources over time.
  6. Do you have DRL's installed now? If so, factory or aftermarket?
  7. Go for it.
  8. Have you checked your shifter cable? Eyeball the TV cable also. http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Transmission_and_Transfer_Case/Transmission_Automatic_Shifter_Adjustments.htm
  9. Try THIS one. If there's a merchant discount offered this site usually has it.
  10. The motor case needs to be tied to ground if you are bench testing it w/o mounting.
  11. Swap the two flasher cans and see what happens:
  12. If still available, I always use OEM Mopar parts for everything. As for the door weatherstrips, I pulled them off a fairly new wrecked XJ in a junkyard several years ago.
  13. The bolt holding your dipstick tube must have come off, the tube separated at the joint on the oil pan nipple, and you blew fluid out until it there wasn't enough to keep it in drive. Try reconnecting the dipstick tube and filling the tranny back up. Also check the tranny vent tube to make sure it's not clogged. You might just get lucky...
  14. When I installed mine, the 97+ strips looked like a slightly different rubber compound and was a bit longer than my originals. They worked great for me.
  15. Almost (but not quite) makes me want to have Renix closed system just so I could add-in the Mac's bling tank. That sucker is pretty.
  16. Not good for your rig either.
  17. First I've heard of the "special" pump and gear seals too. Just eyeballed the 94-96 parts manual and sure enough in the breakdown of the pump and steering gear components, the seal packages for the ZJ pump and gear all had different part numbers that the those of the other 94-96 Jeeps. So for sure there is something "special" for the seals. Also, ZJs through the 93-98 era had different steering gear boxes for those w. the trailer tow option than those w/o.
  18. That's the 12.7:1 "quick" ratio steering gear present only in the 92-1/2 - 98 ZJ models. The ZJs were the only Jeep models to get this ratio box throughout these years.
  19. Nice score. You would think these yards would know the going prices of MJ specific parts like tail lamps, tailgates, etc. by now..
  20. Looks like one from an S10 long bed. I had one for awhile and it fit just like that; not tall enough for the cab and too narrow.
  21. Just make sure you get a cable for a longbed, p/n 52003190. The rear brake cables are the same for both SWB and LWB; the bed length difference is made up on the front cable.
  22. You should start your own build thread. This one is from early 2007...
