Anything is possible with enough know-how and motivation. Question is, are you going to be using the '89's engine harness and computer, or are you talking everything from the '01? If the latter, you're going to have to swap the dash and corresponding harnesses since everything is completely and totally different between the two eras. In addition, you're going to have to figure out how to make a fuel pump work since the '01 XJ uses a plastic tank with a returnless fuel sender. There's a LOT of swapping and modification to do if you want to use everything from the '01. The good news is, the drive train will physically bolt in place.

Why does my comanche die?
onlyinajeep726 replied to creep_in_the_jeep's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
That random stalling sounds more like the CPS. Over filling a gas tank, which I'm not convinced it is anyway, shouldn't cause an engine to stall. -

Shocks for 5" - 5.5" lift
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Nevermind... I found out it's close to 17" compressed, 28.5" extended. -
Does anyone know right off hand what the compressed and extended lengths for front shocks for an MJ/XJ with around 5 inches of lift?

Why is cylinder #6 reddish? Rust? Those rockers look good and slug free, so I'd say that's pretty good. Give that head a good valve job and you'll be good to go, assuming the rings in whichever cylinder had the burnt valve are good.

Overheat Closed System with Cap

Take this time to convert it to the open style ('91+) cooling system and never look back. You'll be glad you did. -

Been quite some time since my last update here... Wow! Anyway, I've decided that I want to lift the MJ afterall. Plans are to do an 8.8 rear with 4.10 gears, SOA swap. RE 4.5" springs, Rocky-Road Outfitters MJ control arm drop brackets and swap in a D30 with 4.10 gears. I've sourced both my axles for the project, and literally just finished my 8.8 about an hour ago after months of slow progress on it. Here she is:- 80 replies

Which slave cylinder?
onlyinajeep726 replied to onlyinajeep726's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Not sure TBH. And THANK YOU a ton! -
Those two MJ's at the junkyard.... you can thank me, in part, for their removed parts. I have some sitting in my garage as we speak lol.

Alright guys, I'm going from a 2WD Peugeot (internal slave) to a 4WD AX-15 (external slave) in my recently acquired '88 SporTruck. I've disconnected the lines at the slave end and clamped the hose for the time being. My question is, since I'm going to an external slave, can I just mate the hydraulic line from the Peugeot master to an AX slave? The master cylinder looks to be fairly new (PO said it was, anyway). Just trying to save money if I can because the whole hydraulic system, prefilled, is $100+ on RockAuto. Just the slave is ~$35.

Where'd your Comanche take you this weekend?
onlyinajeep726 replied to johnny quest's topic in The Pub
I took my from my barn out back, to my garage, back to my barn lol. :rotf: Had to load a front axle in the bed until I get time to swap it in. . :MJ 1: . -
For those of y'all who may be interested, I discovered something interesting on RockAuto when searching for a rear brake line for my MJ (which will soon be lifted, Ford 8.8, SOA swap). If you search for a '99 Cherokee (may work for other years that came with an C8.25, IDK), you'll find that they offer a Dorman rear hose that is longer by a full four inches to accommodate a "raised suspension". I think this is awesome, personally. Here's the direct link should any of y'all decide to purchase: DORMAN H622067 - RockAuto.com
