  1. Ok, thanks for the info guys. Don, you brought up a valid point that I seemed to have overlooked. Perhaps I'll just stick with aftermarket rims. I do love me some Turbines though... Also, the more I think about it, spacers make brake jobs a little more time consuming since you have to undo twice the amount of lugs lol.
  2. I'm sure this question has been brought up before, and I have found some info via Google, but I wanted to ask y'all for your opinions. I have a set of Turbines that I plan to clean up and may eventually use when I lift my MJ (SOA rear and matching front). I will likely try to run 33's when I do that. So, wheel spacers or aftermarket rims with less backspacing? I've heard spacers eat up wheel bearings, but logically, it seems to me that less backspacing would exert the same stresses on the bearings as spacing out OEM rims. Thoughts?
  3. As far as your first question, yes, you can use the AW4 floor shifter in conjunction with your mini console.
  4. Y'all have me intrigued here about true duals on the 4.0... I have a single in/dual outs on a Cherry Bomb Pro and it sounds pretty good, but I'd be lying if I said I haven't wondered what the sound and performance would be like with true duals.
  5. x2 Although more reliable/bullet proof than any GM 2.8, I don't quite understand the logic behind this. That's a complete step backwards. You'd be worlds ahead with a GM 3.4, not to mention the ease of swap. The 4.0 is a huge step forward as well, but take it from someone who knows, it's a lot of work.
  6. These are both valid points that I didn't think of. I forgot about the strange configuration for the Renix TB.
  7. That TB spacer... is it sealed against the intake mani and TB good? Sounds like a huge vacuum leak somewhere within that area. That would be where I'd start. In my personal experience, I try not to change too many things in once instance for reasons like this. When I swapped injectors on my MJ (put Neon 703's on mine), I started and drove the Jeep for a couple days before I did anything else to the air/fuel system. I swapped TB's on mine a few days after that once I determined the injectors weren't causing any negative results.
  8. It's a Jeep... I don't care what anyone does, it'll always leak something or somewhere. :laughin:
  9. What happens when you love LEGOs as much as our trucks? This: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86448
  10. Got a jack and tire chocks? Big, thick blanket in the event you get stranded on the side of the road and temperatures get down in the upper 20's? Drinking water? ...I tend to over-think lol.
  11. I have a stroked HO in my '88 Renix XJ. All the electronics are Renix, but all the bolt on accessories are HO with exception of the alternator. It was a lot of work but it works. Now, if I ever had to do it again, I'd seek out an OBD1 at the least.
  12. It won't work. The bore and bolt pattern is different. Also, the diameter of the base that fits inside of the booster is different and would not seal to hold vacuum IIRC.
  13. What transmission do you have and is it external or internal slave? You'll probably better off replacing the whole clutch system. They sell a good one on RockAuto.
  14. When you did the VC swap, you likely unplugged the vacuum hose going from the throttle body to the MAP sensor by accident or broke it. Check that first because the spitting/sputtering is likely being cause by that.
  15. To answer your question, yes it will fit any 242/4.0L from '87 - '06. But try Cruiser54's fix and see if that alleviates your issue.
  16. Check this out... Got some parts for sale from a 2.5L MJ. Might have what you need. http://comancheclub.com/topic/45249-lots-of-86-parts/
  17. Get the axle anyway and find a matching geared D30 for the front. If you decide to run bigger tires, the taller gears will help.
  18. Your best bet to keep mud out of the carb is ...stop mudding.
  19. Or you can just MAKE $#!& work. Image Not Found Yea, you could... but I don't trust welding something like that. It would be my luck the weld breaks and then I have no brakes.
  20. '95/96 XJ boosters are dual diaphragm and are your best bet as far as upgrading the booster. '97+ XJ have a longer rod. WJ boosters are also a good option.
  21. I put one on both my '88 XJ and my former '96 XJ. I bought the Crimestopper SP-400 system, brand new on Amazon for around $75 in 2011. Works great and I've never had a problem with it. I installed it myself but it did take me the better part of a day, each, to wire them up. Not hard if you have a pretty good understanding of electrical and wiring. Best thing I can recommend is make yourself a chart to match up each wire from the RS system to the Jeep's harnesses. A good resource is the12volt.com. http://www.the12volt.com/installbay/alarmdetail/1214.html
  22. Where in NC are you located?
