Rear Glass shattered ... Still available?
Blue XJ replied to Rockfrog's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'll try to dig mine out this weekend, assuming I still have it. I seem to recall it being pretty flat, since I think I had stuff stacked on top of it. I could be wrong though. I think I have some larger pieces of cardboard as well, I'll let you know what I come up with. -
We buy from Alro at work, for small stuff at home I go two smaller places around me. I usually buy from their scrap pile and get everything pretty cheap.

I am going on 3+ years with my Ryobi lithium ion bateries. I've had the tool longer but got 4 new batteries for Christmas a while ago, I have no complaints.

Now I have a coil spring question.

You could always just toss a 2" spacer in the front for now to help level it out. -
Tips to keep jeep from over heating
Blue XJ replied to Campbellbrothers's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Mines all stock, with the exception of converting to an open system by putting a filler T in the upper hose. Runs at 205~210 all day everyday on the trail. If its running hot, you either need to replace coolant or the radiator. -
Does the input gear engage properly? There were 3 different length input gears over the years, just make sure yours engages enough to the output on the trans.
-
That's fine with me, you two can work it out and let me know. I'll trade either of you my transmission for a bottle of Jack!
-
I'm using the Auto TPS with an auto harness and a manual trans. This is on a Renix Jeep. The TPS reading are the same, the auto version just sends a signal to the trans.
-
It's yours, just give it a good home, don't worry about the money. I've had it listed locally for a while with no interested. I'm glad to give it to someone who can use it, instead of scrapping it.

I don't think they ever made a 4 cylinder with an AW4 did they? I know there was a few XJ's built that way and the axles came with 4.56 gears, but I didn't think there were Comanches built with that combo. I thought all the 4 bangers were manual Trans's.
-
I have an AW4 from a 4x4 90 sitting on my garage floor. Has the torque converter and flex plate as well. I took it out to swap for a manual. I had it rebuilt a while ago, but I bet it has less than 20k miles on it. If you have a way to pick it up from south east Michigan, I'll make you a great deal on it. I reused the t-case though, so I don't have that.

I think mine would have a catastrophic failure if I ran it in the 1/4. Even with the low mileage drivetrain it has. I would be curious to see what yours does though, since mine also has a 4.7 stroker and 4.56 gears.

Blue XJ replied to neohic's topic in Comanche of the Month (MJOTM)
There are no part numbers left on the box, I've had it a long time, its just the smaller box Lowe's sells, at the time it was the only one that matched the width of my bed. -
I'm running Spicers. I've tried Moog and TRW, ended up going back to Spicer.

Core Short Throw Shifter

Not to steal your thread, but I got my tcase handle installed. I cut the old one off amd welded the new one on. It was pretty straight forward. I angled the edges on the new one to have a smooth transition to the old one. Image Not Found Image Not Found Image Not Found -
Front hood support struts.. Anyone done this?
Blue XJ replied to 81Chero's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
+1 for the redline kit I just tossed a bunch of those struts and mounts at work. I didnt even think about using them for that. Any idea what pressure the struts are rated for? I had 30 and 40lb ones. -
I don't remember, there was 4 of us I think last time, but they gave us 2 guides. It's been years, I really don't remember. Not sure if its still open even.
-
Why waste the time? Ace (or any decent hardware store) should have them on the shelf.
-
I went with a Luk for behind my stroker, so far I havent had any issues.
-
Thats a good price, they charge $80 just to balance at the shops by me.

If you want real hardcore trails, talk to the owner and ask about Mission Impossible, its a few miles down the road, in the original owners back yard. They usually provide a trail guide or two, I think 35's and two lockers are the minimum for them to let you in. Its a fun time.

My wife works in a hospital, they've seen a ton of flu patients this year. They have all been strain A so far as well, no strain B yet.

Core Short Throw Shifter

I ordered the same stick for the tcase that you did, ordered last night at 7:30 and already have a tracking number. I have the newer style console in mine, its a bit flatter in that area, I think I can make it work. Cut the old one off where it becomes vertical and weld this one on. -
Does seem a little too expensive, that's more than the going rate around here. Mine are double cardan shafts, but the last one I had lengthened, balanced and new ujoints cost me about $260.
