My someday build doesn't include a Comanche. I guess I've already built my dream MJ, owned and wheeled it for 10 years, now it's time to move on. This is my someday build, with a fuel injected big block.

I am longer able to get out of work, we are being forced to work 7 12's. Have fun everyone, I really wanted to go, its my favorite park.
-
Rear 1/4 guards that include tail light mounts.
-
That I don't recall, I maybe I'm wrong and its the 5125's that tell you the valving, since they aren't vehicle specific. I have them in the rear and they ride very well, much better than the Gabriel's I originally used.
-
You can get the 5100's with different valving. I have 5125's in the rear and 5150's up front with 6" of lift and I would say it rides almost as good as stock.

They said it was a Crane cam, but that was it. I wanna say the Crane I am running has similar lift, but this sounds like the one they were talking about. It's the only one that has .512 of lift, but its on the exhaust http://www.summitracing.com/parts/crn-753941/overview/ It seems most people that have ran the Crane cams on their strokers are getting 35-40k out of them before they fail, including myself, I have a new cam to put in whenever I get some time.

It was a late model XJ manifold modified to have a carb base welded to it. The power was pretty low, considerably lower than stock, so they put a carburetor on it. Not as cool of a build as it could have been.

I have a car with 7" light that these would be a good mod for, but they are sealed beams. I'll have to see if there is a conversion housing out there too.
-
That's a nice setup, but it would never make it into my driveway or most park in lots around here without dragging on the ground.
-
So I assume you've never been to the rock quarry at the Badlands? can't get more 'pure rock' than that, although you need a built rig to run a lot of it.

I used cables from a KJ, but my ebrake is the hand one from an XJ.

instrument panel grounding problems
Blue XJ replied to wutangwisdom's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You can put a ground just about anywhere. -
I've had Bilstein 5150's on mine since I built it, I would recommend them if you wanted to save a few bucks.
-
I welded my perches, rollcage, bumpers, rock rails, sheet metal repair pieces, front suspension mounts on the frame side, frame stiffeners and I'm sure other things with it. If it's thicker metal, you can always bevel the edge and do multiple passes.

No. You can use it to tack it in the correct position, then have welded by a 220V welder for proper penetration.I'll have to say it is enough welder, as long as you know how to use it. I welder my perches on with a 110v fluxcore welder almost a decade ago, haven't had a single problem. And with a manual trans and a stroker motor running 35's, they take a lot of abuse. thats good to know. Is that all you've used to weld on your truck? If I remember your build correctly I've seen some nice fabrication. Yep, I used a flux core Lincoln 140 for everything. It's been beat on pretty good and nothing has failed yet.

I noticed that Amazon has just about every Rubicon Express on their website, most with free shipping or prime. If your zip code is considered in the US, maybe they would honor the free shipping? I've ordered a few lift kits for people from Amazon using my prime account so they could save big time on shipping.

I don't know what part you covered while you where there to think it's worn out, but I've always enjoyed myself there. I'm about 85% sure I am going, and I have two buddies that are planning on joining as well, both with Rubicons. We usually run Orange and play in the quarry and a few little scramble areas by the dunes. AND - If anyone is in the market for an MJ, I might be selling mine, the Badlands could be a good place to do the deal, you can see it in action first.

Is that why the website was Goodwood.com?

Hood lock and/or kill switch
Blue XJ replied to Incommando's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Put a switch on the ground from the NSS, won't crank if there is no ground. -
Get your balls out from behind the bumper!
Blue XJ replied to cruiser54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
CAD is long gone and I've never had a an issue with the heat, my Jeeps cab gets pretty warm on its own, my heat is usually on defrost or floor anyway, if it's even on. I guess it works out for me. -
Get your balls out from behind the bumper!
Blue XJ replied to cruiser54's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Your balls pretty small, mine was like double that sized, looked like a football. I eliminated it about 15 years ago when it wasn't working properly, never really noticed much of an effect. -
I could use the passenger side one of that one is rust free as well.

I never had any issues in the snow with just a front locked. As long as I drove like I should when it's snowing out it was fine. I did notice it when one tire was on ice and the other on dry pavement and I hit the brakes hard, but that was about the only time. Actually, the first time it happened I think I pulled over and made sure all the pieces were still inside my axle. Lol. Those who have a lunch box up front know what I'm talking about.
