You could make half of this system with bastardized windshield washer sensors (assuming, that is, that they wouldn't get eaten by brake fluid). I think some 4.0 oil pans even have a bung for an oil level sensor. The only thing that seems all that hard at a glance is the brake pad sensors which I could live without.

Yeah those have to be replaced anytime the pads get worn down which is unfortunate but the system operates just fine without them and considers the unplugged sensor as ok.
Pete M Posted October 26, 2022 Posted October 26, 2022 yup. good ol' ebay brings forth a nice score now and again.
88mjsally Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 NOS ROL fog light lens. Looks a little different than the other NOS ROL I have though
fiatslug87 Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 Are there different fog and driving light variations?
Pete M Posted October 28, 2022 Posted October 28, 2022 it looks like the patterns might be different.

Top is coolant sensor, bottom 6 are fluid sensors for axles, oil pan, trans and t-case. Off to the right is a brake sensor in which I can’t use but is a neat piece to have. Makes me wonder if I can find a similar sensor that would ground out when the pad gets low enough.
eaglescout526 Posted November 8, 2022 Author Posted November 8, 2022 Not mine but I absolutely have to share the box this one came in that I ordered for a member. Its a steelie

How come the brake sensor won't work?

And how they work is they go into the pad and once the pad gets to that level, these sensors ground out and pop the fuse which causes and open circuit in the sentry system that the computer then reads as a “fault” or brake pads have to be replaced. Kinda dumb since you have to replace the sensors every time

That was the only one left. According to the FSM of the XJ, they can only be used once and must be ordered new every time. So I am not gonna worry about the brake portion of system sentry unless I can find a similar operating sensor on constant supply.

Have you made any comparison with them?

I was also notified that the mini pooper ones from the early 00’s might work as well. I haven’t dove that far into it as I don’t even have the sentry set up yet.
88mjsally Posted November 20, 2022 Posted November 20, 2022 Nos MJ console insert with the ebrake block off panel
