and also wired in my Hella battery cut off switch.

Finnally got around to installing my 4:10 rear axle, bled the brakes, hooked everything up, tried to adjust the parking brake only to find I'm running out of adjustment and still don't have any. Looks like Ill have to swap the cables. I have yet to drive it because at this moment I'm recharging my AC to see if I can get it working any better. I was able to get my full original charge out of it so I don't think its leaking. Maybe I overcharged it, or it may need a new H block??? ..........have been messing with it right now....pressures arent right. I'm not sure whats going on with it...Il have to do some troubleshooting research....or maybe the HVAC housing is not closing off the heater core enough???? Time for a test drive!

drove it for the first time in a few weeks.

need to replace some idler pulleys up front, maybe alternator. still have spares of those tho so thats ok.

been tossing ideas around w/ it....

sell as-is.

drop to 4.5" with my spare set of 31x11.50 swampers, put 3.73 30 front and 44 rear that I have in it, paint, put in OME shocks. I have all parts but the shocks.

drop to the 3800's old 3" lift and 31x10.50 dayton timberlines, put the 3800's front fenders and clip on, finish painting the truck green, finish interior swap to 95 with a full center console and carpet. swap in my np242 and stock rear DS, and my spare 3" shocks. then d/d it.

closer to stock, and restored comanches are worth more than heavily modified ones.

OR...

Image Not Found

do that bed only full length with a proper tailgate and flares, put the 35's on the truck, and longarm the front. also add provisions for gerry cans in the front corners, and a military shovel and hi-lift mount on the sides. fuel tank (fuel cell) in the bed. tailgate would be swingout to the right with a drop-pin instead of handle, and would be built to still say JEEP in the center using the center from a rusted tailgate that I have.

the ONLY reason I want to sell it is that I feel bad wheeling a nice MJ with a stock box. take away the box, and I'd be cool with it. plus then the box is around for a nice d/d street truck build.

Pat,

That's a good looking bed on that MJ!!

I spent most of the afternoon making a trailer with my brother-in-law. Its coming out great!! Its from scratch, using a axle from a travel trailer. We are using 2x3 x .125 for the body, 2x3 x.250 for the tongue and 2x2x.125 for the center cross pieces.

On to the MJ...

I found my gas leakage is from the plate where the hoses attach. Its the same piece that holds the fuel pump.

I decided to try to fix it with some of that epoxy junk that you need together and plaster on. Didn't work so well.....

Then, I started my rear bumper build. I am going to make the bumper come around the sides of the bed and reattach to the frame forward, just behind the rear tires. I was going to use the same 4" water pipe I used for the bumper itself. But decided against it and will be using 2x4x.125 stock and mount it at a bias. So far I just cut the bed sides..

I also made up better wires for my battery cut off.

Cut the cable to length. Cut and push on some heat shrink tubing and finally the crimp on lug.

I soldered the crimp on connection.

After it cools, push the shrink tubing over the bare wires.

Heat the shrink tubing for a water tite, sealed wire.

OH.. be sure you tie your wires up and away from your alternator fan.. or you will be remaking that wire you just made... :headpop: :headpop: :fs1: :headpop: :fs1: :headpop: :headpop: :fs1: :headpop: :fs1: :headpop:

Oh yes I did!!!

CW.. I had a old timer tell me if you don't use a resin filled heat shrink you still get corrosion in the wires.. He said the best thing to use on wire terminals is liquid electrical tape. :dunno:

I didnt use either on my new grounds, but I know how you like to have it done right, so I thought I'd pass that info on..

I never herd this before!! I use allot of dielectric grease on all connections.

Welded the D-35 up, since I got tired of having only a "peg-leg". Waiting for the BOOOOMMM now. In the mean time, I am cutting down a full float D60, 4.10s' L/S to match the narrow track D44 for the front. And YES the are going to be staying 8 lug. :wrench:

  • 2 weeks later...

Installed my 4:10 rear axle, and found that the longbed parking brake cables will not adjust up to allow my parking brake to work. I will have to swap in the original ones to try to get it to work. Loaded the Buell in it to drop it off at the Harley dealer for a new rear tire, state inspection, recall and a full detail...I'm going to pick it up tonight. can't wait to see it all polished up.. my Buell that is! Ive been neglecting it lately, so Ill have to try to keep up with it this summer! can't wait to go for a ride!

Took the teal front fender off, removed CB antenna, flare and skirt and painted it black. Reinstalled.

Now I need to find the old FM antenna stuff to install it again. CB antenna is going to the middle of the roof.Skirt and flare are going back on once I decide if I want to paint the flares or not.

Before Tuesday I intent to have both front fenders, header panel with grill etc, and bumper all matching. Will probably take Sunday off to go to pull-a-part for ZJ rear brakes, spare 29 spline 8.25 shaft, WJ rear view mirror for buddy, XJ tailgate shocks and wiper delay module for other buddy, and possibly full gauge cluster with tach for my 94 XJ.

Absolutely nothing. Still waiting for the correct all-Wagner front disk brake parts to completely redo the front brakes from the idiots at O'Reillys.

Chronological history: They ordered two right side calipers (3-times), ordered the wrong rotors twice (4WD instead of 2WD), got the wheel bearings right, but flocked up the inner seals. Almost three weeks now..........

With my on-going yard projects, I headed to the quarry this afternoon. I picked up 100pcs 5x5x1" blue-stone border stones and 60pcs 18x10x2" patio block/pavers. Unsure total weight, but estimate the blue-stones @ 2-3Lbs each and the Patio blocks at 10-12 Ea. It just leveled the back with the front, rode like a dream and didn't make a squeak. Best part, it didn't split in two!!!!! My frame repairs passed there first "stress" test!! LOL  :D  :D :clapping: :clapping:
