swapped to the open cooling system, already had the radiator. Just eliminated the coolant bottle and replaced with an XJ one off the rad. Flushed the radiator to round off the job and now my truck doesnt overheat anymore

On the 88: finished cleaning all the interior plastic, re-installed the windshield washer bottle and the air cleaner box, hooked up all the vacuum lines (correctly, I hope), put the front wheels on and got it off the jackstands, put a new old battery box in and installed the battery, hooked up the positive side, left grounds off for now, installed header panel, removed header trim for painting (along with grille, headlight bezels and side marker trim), primed floor repairs, and started prep for re-covering headliner.

On the 91: removed the battery box, found corrosion underneath, cleaned off flaky rust, POR-15 next.

Installed Rocky Road Super sliders and Control arms drop brackets.   They had them "on sale" in their garage sale listings.   I'd say based on every review I've read about them in the past they've changed alot!!!!   They sent me missing hardware with little to no fighting.  They even sent me a spacer for the sliders that "shouldn't have bee needed".   But they sent it anyways.   Overall I was very pleased with their customer service and product.

I have to admit The brackets are gawdy hanging down there, however the on road driving is night and day more comfortable on my test drive.

Replaced U-joints and rebuilt a double cardan front drive shaft from an automatic and installed it today.  I didn't realize how little room i had left on my stock shaft.  (from center to center of the shaft i measured 28 7/8"  when I pulled the shaft it's max length was 29").

Did absolutely nothing. After losing power around 4 on Wednesday to the a storm coming through (derecho with 80mph winds) I just got power back at my house 6:30 this morning. Shop it still without, though.

Attempted to finish bleeding my clutch setup today after fighting with it last weekend. Figured out why it wouldnt bleed all the way. The way the engine and trans setup is, it puts the bleeder screw lower than the top of the slave, thus keeping a bubble of air in there. Removed it so I could get the bleeder to the top, which worked great. I re assembled it and then had NO clutch pedal movement... it was just rock hard and wouldnt press down. Figured out this is what happens when the slave pushrod is already all the way out, it wasnt seated in the throwout arm, so it came apart again, I made sure the rod was seated, and re tested, clutch was better, but still wasnt releasing all the way. That made me think about the original slave from the 86. It had a plastic tip on it where the new one didnt. So out came the slave again, and I compared the pushrod lengths, the one with the plastic tip was a half inch longer than the new one. It didnt look like the tip was supposed to come off the old rod, as it was so rusty, but I was able to twist it off and install it on the new one. Re installed again and all is good with the world! I can drive my MJ again! And all 5 of the gears work too! Now I need to pull the seat and floor mat and drill the holes for the transfer case shifter support. Then all the other things on the list! Oh and no speedo till I get a new longer cable.

chased down the gremlin that reset the clock anytime a door was opened (no dome lights) or the glove box (no light) opened --- now have dome lights, clock and glove box light --- YAHOOOOOOO

This gremlin sounds incredibly familiar... any chance you'd share what the issue was?

Went out & checked on the MJ since he had to spend the night out in the dark. When he saw what caused his outage from the garage he looked a little p-----. Heard him Mumble something about alousy b*@$£. So I gave him a bath and he felt not so neglected. He doesn't know its gonna be perm.

Changed the oil and filter and lubed up the MJ. And since I enjoyed it so much, did the same to the Deere riding lawn mower. I couldn't stop, so did the same to the air compressor then the bike. Washed up, then went for a ride. On the bike, since it took the longest and she needed exercise. She runs good.  :chillin:

Image Not FoundOpened the back garage door and let the MJ see the front street a bit while I used it to charge the mowers battery.  Not good policy to try and sell a mower when it won't start.  Not the photo intended but it will do. Then locked the MJ out back again, don't use it much anymore.

Modified the over-the-rail bed liner so I could use the tonneau cover with it.  Also made access to the front tie-downs.

Used a D-link and Turnbuckle so I wouldn't need to hog out a huge access hole

Started out with a dremel but it made a ridiculous mess, ended up marking the opening, drilling holes in 2 opposite corners and using a hole saw to cut it out.  Fast, no mess and nice clean opening.  Experimented on this side, access hole for the tie down got way too big, had to make a cover plate.

Not one day, more of a weekend worth of work done: new distributor, crank position sensor, ignition control module, radiator hoses, valve cover gasket, headlights, and flushed coolant.

Finally runs well (knock on wood). Loving the jeep world so far minus these issues.
