  1. I am planning a aw4 swap in my truck at some point. There is more to it than some mention. Engine harness, shifter, shifter cable, tps, tcu, and driveshafts (maybe a differenct in the throttle body itself but I don't recall off hand) must all be addressed one way or another. I got an 89 auto trans engine harness and took the chance to go through it and cruisers tips eliminating poor factory connections and refreshing grounds. This was much eaisier to do on the bench. Its not a difficult swap' just alot involved.
  2. Ok so I have everything around except setup bearings. Can I use the old bearings from the previous carrier and make some setup bearings or do I need brand new bearings? Just trying to make sure I have everything before I dive in.
  3. Those look great on your Toyota......
  4. Dark blue patina for life. Awesome truck and congrats.
  5. me personally i am a fan of the "patina look" on the truck I feel it gives character. However leaving said patina won't end well long term. What color are you planning to go with?
  6. Personally not a fan of the newer wranglers. This however isn't bad...
  7. As far as I know thats pretty much the only option.
  8. I would pull that tape deck. Alot of guys want the originals. Even if it doesnt work. We have a resident radio expert.
  9. I'm down for one.
  10. Remove it however necessary. Rebuild any damage with jb weld. Drill new hole. Install new screw.
  11. I would give that if it were local to me. Thats a clean truck.
  12. I'll have to try the PC. On my phone I can't scratch the screen keeps moving.
  13. Only if you got the rental insurance.....
  14. Welcome to the addiction
  15. don't cut anything up yet. I am working from memory and that has lost some accuracy over the years. What I am saying is I can't remember.... I am probably wrong.
  16. if you are talking about the small 1" hose that leads to the crotch cooler vent, I belive there is a "Y" connection in the hose for the far left dash vent that it comes off of.
  17. No there were several different variants through the different generations of XJ and MJ production. Someone with better info can tell you what years the break would be for a particular column. If you get one from the same era it should be basically a plug and play.
  18. Personally I wouldnt return to a shop who did something like that. This used to be common back when it took 2 weeks to get parts. But there is absolutely no reason to hack a vehicle up these days unless you have no clue what your doing. Parts and info are very readily available in todays day and age.
  19. Did changing the cap fix the no spark issue? The issue see inn the old cap shouldn't effect all spark. Maybe one cylinder but not all 6. I suspect a different issue.
  20. I wamt to start by saying I am in no way a professional welder. My go to machine is a craftsman (Lincoln)110v mig. Looks to me like you need to increase the voltage and maybe even slow the wire speed. Doing so will help the weld "penetrate better, and not just puddle up on the surface. Get some pieces of various scrap steel and practice on a bench. Welding at odd angles and inder vehicles is not the best way to learn. Too many other factors make it difficult. Practice is key.
  21. Parts are here. 4.10's and master rebuilds for both diffs and a lsd for the rear. All that is left is a few setup bearings and a shop press. Then it'll be time to get her back on the road.
