  1. I guess there is no time like the present to learn....
  2. I pulled the shafts looking for the growl. Wheel bearings are maybe 6 months old. Pulled the cover as the investigation continued. Caps still installed I can move three entire carrier. I have a video but I'm not sure how to post it.
  3. I'm pretty green on differentials. But I know I shouldnt be able to grab hold of the ring gear and wiggle it up and down or side to side. Would it be carrier bearings.
  4. I'm pretty certain. Whats everyone elses thoughts? For reference the top side is all dry.
  5. I put a GM tbi injection unit on my 258. Haven't Done any major testing yet but it runs well. The multi port injection might be a little more difficult, but I'm sure it's possible. Edit: the 258 is in the cj not my mj
  6. After seeing @CGCWO before and after pics, I really like the black tow mirrors. My Question is would paint be the best way to go about it or should I look into something like plasti dip? I have slowly repainting trim on my truck as I have it off for various projects. I have been using a Krylon Satin black. Should I just scuff and shoot the mirrors and brackets?
  7. Floors and frame are not the best. It looks deceptively good from 10'
  8. From what I can find this is a difficult process in Indiana. If I could obtain a title with a fairly simple process I would. I sit around frequently thinking of what I could do with the carcass.....
  9. I'm not for sure but I think there will be a difference in the electrical connections for the trans. But should be easy to over come.
  10. I run h4 hoisings in my cj and had them in a mj years ago. I think mine are ipf. They are the way to go. Upgraded harnrss and bulbs you won't be disappointed. I think the only thing better would be a light bar.
  11. I feel it really depends on the intended purpose of the truck. My daily will get replacement part. For a show truck that might be a different story. But either case I wouldnt just start randomly servicing/ replacing things that don't need it.
  12. Thanks to all. I ways truly honored when asked.
  13. I think they all look very rebuildable. A little brake clean and some fresh wd-40. Good to go.
  14. I have 31's with 3.55 gears and 5th gear is worthless on all but the smallest of hills. 3.73 and 31's would be a really good match. If its gonna bea off road only rig then I would say go deeper on the gears but 31's with what you have would keep the streetability. And if you don't like the change you only have to deal with it till the tires wear out.
  15. Come on guys lets not screw up another thread.....
  16. Your tailgate shouldn't just fall off. I can open mine and drop it, slam it shut as hard as I want and it won't fall off. I would say you have a bent hinge or something else at play. A tailgate lock of any kind will just be a bandaid over a gunshot so to speak.
  17. Looks like a fun project.
  18. I believe he said that was #1
  19. The hp is more desirable in the wheeling crowd for ground clearance. If it is going to be a street truck the LP will work fine.
  20. I run all led exterior lighting except headlights. I feel better knowing my aging wire harness is carrying a little lighter load. There are 2 kinds of flashers, thermal and electronic. Leds don't draw enough current to activate the thermal flasher correctly. Swap to electronic flashers and your good to go.
