  1. What was this guy smokin? https://harrisburg.craigslist.org/pts/d/ba-10-5-complete-transmission/6309281271.html $650 for a BA 10?
  2. Is the catalytic converter clogged? I had similar symptoms with poor acceleration and backfiring.
  3. Don't cut it. Just attach a string or wire to the old one. Pull the string up the column. Tie to the new harness and pull back through. You also may have to loosen some part on the steering column
  4. Your grill is upside down- BTW
  5. I had this happen with an old 91 XJ
  6. Most of the best mechanics I've found are right here on CC. Seriously! (most) are friendly and will give great advice to help you diagnose and fix whatever ails you, or your MJ. The next source for info is: YouTube.
  7. Look inside the front cowl. There are drain lines inside that can clog up. Water accumulates in there. If the cowl has seam cracks, water leaks into the cab.
  8. The Novak website says that repairing a BA 10 is not worth the money. That's probably true. Search for an AX15 (94 or later with the external slave cylinder) on Craigslist. Look at auto parts AND cars/trucks. You could find a XJ for real cheap. You then get lots of useful parts. The cost to repair the BA10 could be more than a used AX15. (Include in you signature a description of your MJ [Yr, engine, trans, axles, mods made by you or PO] and you location. )
  9. Hey, wait a minute...isn't that an external slave cylinder? The BA was internal. ;)
  10. Ditto
  11. You should look at getting a transmission jack. It makes taking down and reinstalling the trans/tcase easier. Harbor freight has one: https://www.harborfreight.com/450-lb-capacity-transmission-jack-39178.html Tool rental shops will rent them. My experience was the cost of rental for 2-3 days was the price of the HF jack. I've used mine enough times that it has more than paid for itself. (...or find a friend that has one.)
  12. I need to make a BIG purchase for RockAuto. Does anyone have a current discount code?
  13. That's 5 zeros more than I would pay for it. But, one man's junk is another man's...
  14. Here's a 2wd for sale in Annapolis for a more reasonable price: https://annapolis.craigslist.org/cto/d/jeep-comanche/6286737657.html For the price diff., you could make the wanted modifications - and still have beer money leftover.
  15. Why do you spell it wrong? ;) Explain to your son "colour" vs. "color" and why it is "zed" vs "z."
  16. Hey, I live in New Market, too! That's in Maryland, USA - a little bit south of you.
  17. Is the shifter from a YJ? Those are taller and straighter. The MJ/XJ shifter are shorter and angle back.
  18. I'm going to go through withdraws tomorrow!
  19. Roads? What roads?
  20. The same article was in the Washington ComPost today. (Certainly not a 'Right-wing, extremist rag'. More likely the opposite extreme.)
  21. Was '99 the first year of the 0331 cylinder head? Not a major drawback, but something to keep in mind.
  22. Test the CPS. Cruiser has a detailed list of procedures for the Renix MJ/XJs. www.cruiser54.com Also, check out http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Engine/Basic_Sensors_Diagnostics.htmfor a fuller understanding of the Renix sensors.
  23. #1 is the vacuum line for the map sensor. There is only one line out. The other hole doesn't go through to the TB. #2 & #3 is the temper gauge/idiot light wire and sensor/switch. Looks like the plug and sensor are mis-matched. #4 You're probably correct, but I am not sure. #5, # 6 & #7 - :dunno: #8 could be for the under hood light. Doesn't look like yours has one. I would be bolted to the hood just above the coolant bottle.
  24. You mean your keyboard swapped an "S" instead of "F"? Think about it.
  25. Yes. It's the same windshield for all 7 yrs of the MJ. Also, for the XJ from 84 to (at least) 96.
