  1. When in OL, FT is 128 short term. REM show lean.
  2. As my signature states: 87 4.0 Laredo. I have Nick's REM to give me readings from the ECU. Lately, the engine is running stuck in open loop (OL). I have the REM set to display engine temp., Open/Close status, O2 volts and (something else). I start the truck up in the morning and let it run for a few minutes - 2 to 3. The REM shows it switched to CL. I start to drive away and it switches to OL. It will remain in OL. It does not switch back to CL. The ECU came out of a 90 XJ with a 5 spd. The O2 sensor was replaced last fall with the NKG, or whatever # Cruiser states. The O2 volts at start up are 4.+ volts. I can watch the volts drop to ~ +/- 2.5v when it switches to CL. I will drive only a short distance when it switches back to OL. The O2 will stay at or below 2.5. The O2 usually reads below 2.5 most of the time. The engine temp per the REM is at 185* and below while moving. At idle, it will rise up in to the 190s. Once I start to move, the temp drops back down. Before I pull out a parts cannon, does anyone have a suggestion on where to start my testing? The Renix fuel injection manual only describes how the system works in a perfect world. It does not give a detailed trouble shooting guide. I am going to replace the t-stat to address the temp issues. What about a CTS? (Part # for a CTS?)
  3. Perhaps Ted Kennedy should have driven one of those....
  4. Nickintime has a lot of videos on his 89 XJ. He shows from when he got it and all the modifications he’s done to date
  5. 10 slot...but I'm biased
  6. Maryland used to do a roller test. It stopped that and did a tail pipe test for non-OBD2 vehicles. This year, the state is eliminating emissions testing for pre-96 vehicles.
  7. You posted while I was typing
  8. The one they gave you is for cruise control. The metal thread screws to a rev counter for the cruise control. I don't know it there is what the part number is for the one w/o cruise.
  9. Mine came with both light and key buzzer/chimes. The module on mine is black and has not worked in years. I pulled a blue module from a 93 parts XJ. Will the blue work in the earlier years fuse box?
  10. I don't have the build sheet, but the window sticker included "console with armrest $118.00."
  11. If you count my wife who purchased it before we got married, then yes, original owner. Oh, I still have her, also.
  12. mine has the ash tray back there. I did not notice it until the truck was 20 yrs. old. Production date May 87, so it is a late 87 model.
  13. That's really sad to here. My heart goes out to you. Do you want some snow? Actually, this is the first significant snow we've had this year. When it wraps up Wednesday, we could have 8" to 12". I should not complain too much. New England was dumped on by three back-to-back storms earlier this month.
  14. Where’s that global warming they have been promising?
  15. NHMJXJ, you would want to get the XJ dash light set. Jason (with OneWayLights) sells the B-pillar light separately. Dash lights http://www.onewaylight.com/1984-2001-jeep-cherokee-xj-instrument-light-set-white/ B-pillar http://www.onewaylight.com/2x-37-5mm-festoon-led-with-3x-cree-xp-d-6000k/ I tried to order the dash lights back in Dec, but he said they were out of stock. I have not tried to re-order yet.
  16. Some people may recommend concrete for the BA10. However, I would not be that extreme. I was told by trans shop to use Pennzoil Synchromesh.
  17. Regarding your AW4 troubles, i have two AW4s that I am not using.  One came out of a 87 XJ, the other came from a 93 XJ.  I bought both XJs as non-running, so I have not seen them operate. In both cases, I was told by the PO's (different people) that they were working/shifting fine when the XJs were parked.

If you make it out to MD this year, let me know.

Very kind of you to offer!  No plans on traveling near MD any time soon, though we're thinking about hitting the Atlantic Ocean beach maybe some time this early Summer.

I'm actually hauling my truck tomorrow to a local reputable transmission shop.  I have exhausted my personal schedule to do any more significant work on my truck.  I'm in a band that is quite busy on weekends and that's about all the time I get to work on my truck.   I feel really dumb for screwing this transmission up, but I hope to get pictures of the damage to share so that others can learn from my mistake.  I'm really curious what it looks like inside that Torque Converter/pump and body.   I'll find out tomorrow if its going to require a full rebuild.

Thank you for the offer.  It's a bit disappointing to see negative input into this forum.  There's occasional attitudes and cockiness that irritates me, so it's nice to see there's some cool and truly helpful people out there in this Comanche community too.

Some people are very passionate about their view - perhaps too passionate.

I try to ignore them and/or not join in the discussions.

Unless someone makes me a reasonable offer, the trans will still be here this summer.  If you get to Baltimore, you'll pass right by my office.  Literally.  I back up to I-70.

  18. This is a perfect example of GIGO (garbage in, garbage out)
  19. What year? Anyone with a Renix needs to check out Cruiser's Renix Tips - www.cruiser54.com Additionally, you can purchase Nick's Renix Engine Monitor (REM). Search for Nickintime on either facebook or youtube. He sells a scanner that will read the Renix ECU. On CC there are pdfs for the 88 electrical wiring and the Renix fuel system. 88 electrical Fuel system
  20. My MPG dropped and I didn’t know why. I purchased the REM from nickintime on facebook/youtube. i discovered my O2 sensor was busted. I changed it, now the MPG is back up.
  21. If you have not downloaded the 88 electrical manual, I would recommend you do so. It has the wiring diagram for cruise control. It will help you trace and identify the wires/connectors.
  22. I like the new CC header Just like the post-86 emblem
  23. A 4wd conversion shouldn't matter if the donor is Renix or not. If the 8.25 is a must,then get a 93+ 4wd XJ.
  24. The 8.25 was never offered in a Renix era MJ/XJ. So, you will have to search for a 93+ XJ to get the 8.25. The D30 was offered throughout the MJ XJ line. An AW4 from any year 4.0 XJ will bolt up to the MJ. Assuming you buy a complete 4wd XJ, you'll get the matching tcase....you know the rest (spline count differences on the tcase). You will need to have the rear drive shaft made to fit the MJ. The XJ D.S. will not be the proper length for the MJ. The front D.S. is a direct swap.
