Pre and post 4.5" lift and tires with pics
87MJTIM replied to Gubachoo's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Private Facebook page. The guy posted on it. I cannot link to it unfortunately. There are some other photos I could grab and post. Most from the front. One from the rear. No tailgate sadly. -
Beautiful.

Pre and post 4.5" lift and tires with pics

There's a decent bed near Winchester VA. It's a Laredo long bed. The pictures don't look too bad. That looks like a factory roll bar. -
I found NAPA had the cables for the MJ. Part no. BK6151604 - 63", and no. BK6151606 - 87". However, both of these are for vehicles with cruise control.

Noid light and spark plug testing
87MJTIM replied to 87MJTIM's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Two attempts with several rotations of the engine gave the same result: spark plug - short delay - noid - long delay - spark plug - short delay - noid. Repeat this cycle. Just my though, the noid should light first injecting fuel into the cylinder. Then the plug should light, sparking the fuel/air. -

Noid light and spark plug testing
87MJTIM replied to 87MJTIM's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I pulled the fuel pump relay. Plugged a noid light on the first injector wire. Plugged the spark plug tester to the first plug. Cranked the engine. The light would come on to the plug first, then the noid would light up. There is a delay between the two. -
Noid light and spark plug testing
87MJTIM replied to 87MJTIM's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I never heard the engine run. I got it from a client that has an auto shop. He had a customer leave it. My client said it had a blown head gasket. I had the head rebuilt: magna flux, resurfaced, etc. On the block, I changed the timing chain and sprockets, new seals and gaskets all around. I was careful when I changed the timing chain. The old did not come off until the new was set and ready to install. I did not pull the distributor until I primed the engine for oil. I marked the dizzy so I would put it back in the proper location. I turned the engine over to make sure I was at TDC. (I think I did this before priming the engine.) -
Not MJ, but Jeep 4.0 HO related. I have installed a 93 4.0 into my 84 CJ. I have turned the key, it cranks but does not fire. It has fuel and spark. I used a noid light and spark plug test light on #1 cylinder. The light sequence is spark plug then noid light. I have to assume I'm 180* off. How do I adjust this?

No High Speed on Wipers

Under the steering column on the valance panel. Little black box held on by velcro. Unplug both connectors and connect them together. -
No High Speed on Wipers
87MJTIM replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The Intermittent Wiper Module (IWM) has a low speed/high speed control. The IWM may be bad. Does the intermittent wiper control work? Does the washer pump work? -
electrical glitch My 1987 MJ license plate lighs quit?
87MJTIM replied to SGTSnacks's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Similar situation happened to me. A county police officer stopped me in my neighborhood late one night for no license plate light. I purchased a pig tail at the auto parts store and installed it. No problems since. -
I think that the bracket needs to point down, not up. The factory configuration has it down. The pictures of the aftermarket shifters have the bracket pointing up.
-
The last vehicle I purchased new, I told the salesman you are not paying me for advertisement, so take your name off my car. That was true for license plate bracket and other dealer's name badges.

I have a set of original brackets. I kept them when I switched to a Fey bumper. Krustyballer sells near-factory hitches. Check the for sale sections.

Oil Pressure guage acting funky
87MJTIM replied to Marine1Texas's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I've learned not to trust the gauges. A few times the gauge was reading 20 psi while running at speed. At idle it would drop to near zero. I swapped out several clusters until I found an oil pressure gauges that reads (some what) correctly. -
Quick help, damaged E12 Torx removal
87MJTIM replied to Blue88Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Do you get up to MD or the mid Atlantic often? I have two AW4s. I would swap you either one for the AX15. 1st - 87 XJ, 2nd - 93 XJ. Both have bell housings. -
Those are called "Tow Mirrors." It was an option on some models. However, the doors came with an internal brace to support the mirror and door panel/skin. Without the brace, the wind resistance while driving could bend the door panel. Just my 2¢

I would recommend somewhere on the front/main page a link directly to the Master Search Index. It doesn't have to be front-N-center, but should be up near the top so viewers don't have to scroll down to see it. Would it be possible to have a changing picture of the members' MJ? Some way have the image change every 3-5 seconds. I don't know what would be involved with writing that in. If it is too complicated, then forget it. Members could submit a photo of their MJs, either stationary or in action. We could elect to show our "names" or remain anonymous. Then the page should show links to the other forums.

The owner must have listed that on all CL in the US. I see it when I search CL locally in MD. https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/doc/cto/d/1988-jeep-cherokee-comanche/6362341311.html Do I detect a scam?

That is SO photoshopped! Those two would never sit that close to each other.

No gauges, no reverse lights
87MJTIM replied to WahooSteeler's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The back up switch is a separate part on the trans. It has a two wire connector. The switch closes the circuit to feed pwr to the reverse lights. If the switch is bad, then no rev lights.
