  1. What engine and transmission do you have? I have a 4.0 manual transmission. The axles have 3.07 ratio. My MJ does exactly what you describe. You could have the axles re-geared to 3.55 or higher
  2. Tex is correct, it is the Tcase vent tube. It bolts up toward the top of the bell housing or somewhere up higher in the engine bay. It allows the tcase to vent without pulling back in water. If your trans was recently out, the line was not properly connected when it was reinstalled.
  3. To all pet owners' who have lost a loved one: On the other side of the bridge to forever, our animal friends wait for us. Good-bye hurts so much but someday you will think of your animal friend with smiles instead of tears, and it will feel as if this little soul left a rainbow in your heart. A card given to us upon the passing of our first friend.
  4. It is not hard at all. It is messy, time consuming and MESSY. All you need is a standard set of sockets and wrenches. Also, a floor jack and jack stands. See this http://comancheclub.com/topic/45246-rear-main-seal/ I listed the steps for the rear main seal. While you have everything off, it may make sense to change the RMS also.
  5. Next sale starts Thur., May 4, 6:00 PM EDT selling on www.etsy.com search for Nickintime Renix Engine Monitor
  6. My wife and I are dog lovers. We've had 5 dogs since 1988. One is still with us. Our dogs are family members. When we travel - we have a travel trailer - our dogs come with us. We do not leave them in kennels. For 3 of our dogs, we have had to make that "last visit with the vet." Our first visit was very hard on us. The visits are always difficult. A good book for dog lovers who have lost their "family members" because of illness is Rescuing Sprite, by Mark Levine.
  7. The MJ came with four different engines and had three different phases. The four engines were 2.5L 4 cyl,, 2.8 V6, 4.0 6 cyl and diesels '86 is a stand alone year. It was the only year that came with the 2.8 V6. This is not a desirable engine. Many owners swap in a GM 3.4 or a 4.0 conversion. There are also differences in the front radiator and supports. '87 - '90 came with the 4.0 6 cyl. These are called Renix Jeeps The fuel delivery system was designed by Renault and Bendix (Re-nix). Good engines, but lots of hoses and sensors. These are not OBD compatible. (A member on CC sells a scanner that can read the signals for the Renix. Well worth the investment.) '91 - '92 are the HO (High Output) engines by Chrysler. These two years saw the fewest productions runs with 92 only seeing approx 4000 made. The 2.5 was offered for all the years. This engine is basically a 4.0 minus two cylinders. The diesel stopped in 89 or 90. Not many diesel were sold in the USA. These are great little trucks. I get a lot of compliments on mine often. It shares a lot of parts with the Cherokee XJ (84-96), so replacement parts are still available through parts stores and online retailers. However, there are part that are unique to the MJ and very hard to find (cargo box and all attachments[tail lights], rear bumpers, fuel sending unit, rear leaf springs and probably others will mention). I love mine. Original owner, 288900 miles. Never plan on selling.
  8. What yr? Eng? Trans? Everyone can/will give advice (some may be useful).
  9. I do not know if there is a diff from 2.5 to 4.0, but mine takes 22 mm. A 7/8" wrench fits, also.
  10. There are youtube videos for practically everything! Check FixJeep on YT or www.fixjeep.com. He has a video on re-clocking a NP231 to an AX15 from an XJ to his TJ. If you do the steps in reverse you can clock a YJ trans to an MJ. Link to videos: http://www.fixjeeps.com/Jeep-transfer-case.html template for clocking: http://www.fixjeeps.com/support-files/ax15_np231tcasereclocktemplate.pdf
  11. I believe the MJ tanks are universal. The 20 g tank used 3 straps, the smaller tanks used just two straps. (On second thought, the SWB could not fit the larger tank, but I may be incorrect.)
  12. What trans do you have - AX4, AX5, BA10 or AX15? It sounds like you are loosing hydraulic fluid
  13. No. Roof lines are different.
  14. The OP has a BA10. It doesn't have a pivot ball. The slave and throw out bearing are one unit.
  15. I thought it was a ball for towing
  16. HornbroD, like you, I have some speed bleeds in my box of "things to do." When I bought them, I was told the front and rear bleeders are different sizes. The guy at the counter (PepBoys) told me that there are none made for the rear brakes (D44 drums). I did not follow up with his comment. Are there speed bleeds available for a D44? or was the guy incoorrect?
  17. Could the relay be bad? Could the relay intermittently be bad? I have Nick's Renix Engine Monitor. It read the two signals to the ECU - the O2 volt and the hearter volt. The O2 keeps from 1 to 4.98v; the heater is getting 12v. The ECU starts in open, after 1 to 2 min, it will switch to closed. Then it goes back to open and remains in open. The two voltages keep reading correctly. I just put in a new NKG O2 sensor. AFAIK, the relay is original - 87, only one owner: me.
  18. If you have not checked out this site, it has a lot of useful Renix info. There is a part on O2 sensors http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Engine/Basic_Sensors_Diagnostics.htm
  19. Somewhere on CC is a manual for the Renix fuel injection system. I covers everything for it. There a section on the O2 sensors and what the proper reading should be. I tried to search but could not find it. I'll search tomorrow for it. EDIT: Found the link in the DIY section. Of course, it is a link, also. http://comancheclub.com/topic/36875-get-your-copy-of-the-renix-fi-fuel-injection-manual-here/
  20. July 15 - 17, there is the All Breeds Jeep show at the York PA fairgrounds. Lots of Jeeps there, from MBs, GPs to Fiats. Lots of vendor, also. www.pajeeps.org
  21. Better get her to put that in writing :D
  22. Would be a great idea, but my exhaust currently ends at the transmission mount. No cat, no muffler, nothing. I bought it like that, and since I haven't driven it yet, I haven't got to putting a system on it. The list is getting smaller, so it's coming... Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk Well, that answers my question. Just a thought. I am following along to to hear what the problem is.
  23. I may be thinking from the other end, but... Have check your cat? When you swapped trans, you may have knocked something loose in the cat causing a blockage in the exhaust. That may explain why it idles fine, but runs bad. My $0.02.
  24. I am planning on going again this year. I'm not sure if I will put it in the show. Probably will. There are other CC members there.
