I believe the MJ tanks are universal. The 20 g tank used 3 straps, the smaller tanks used just two straps. (On second thought, the SWB could not fit the larger tank, but I may be incorrect.)

What trans do you have - AX4, AX5, BA10 or AX15? It sounds like you are loosing hydraulic fluid
-
No. Roof lines are different.

Tranny problem, hope I didn't screw it up
87MJTIM replied to mdmonroe's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The OP has a BA10. It doesn't have a pivot ball. The slave and throw out bearing are one unit. -
HornbroD, like you, I have some speed bleeds in my box of "things to do." When I bought them, I was told the front and rear bleeders are different sizes. The guy at the counter (PepBoys) told me that there are none made for the rear brakes (D44 drums). I did not follow up with his comment. Are there speed bleeds available for a D44? or was the guy incoorrect?

Could the relay be bad? Could the relay intermittently be bad? I have Nick's Renix Engine Monitor. It read the two signals to the ECU - the O2 volt and the hearter volt. The O2 keeps from 1 to 4.98v; the heater is getting 12v. The ECU starts in open, after 1 to 2 min, it will switch to closed. Then it goes back to open and remains in open. The two voltages keep reading correctly. I just put in a new NKG O2 sensor. AFAIK, the relay is original - 87, only one owner: me.

If you have not checked out this site, it has a lot of useful Renix info. There is a part on O2 sensors http://www.lunghd.com/Tech_Articles/Engine/Basic_Sensors_Diagnostics.htm

Somewhere on CC is a manual for the Renix fuel injection system. I covers everything for it. There a section on the O2 sensors and what the proper reading should be. I tried to search but could not find it. I'll search tomorrow for it. EDIT: Found the link in the DIY section. Of course, it is a link, also. http://comancheclub.com/topic/36875-get-your-copy-of-the-renix-fi-fuel-injection-manual-here/

Better get her to put that in writing :D

Would be a great idea, but my exhaust currently ends at the transmission mount. No cat, no muffler, nothing. I bought it like that, and since I haven't driven it yet, I haven't got to putting a system on it. The list is getting smaller, so it's coming... Sent from my SM-N900W8 using Tapatalk Well, that answers my question. Just a thought. I am following along to to hear what the problem is.
-
I may be thinking from the other end, but... Have check your cat? When you swapped trans, you may have knocked something loose in the cat causing a blockage in the exhaust. That may explain why it idles fine, but runs bad. My $0.02.

I am planning on going again this year. I'm not sure if I will put it in the show. Probably will. There are other CC members there.

Can you install a flywheel wrong?
87MJTIM replied to desbennett004's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I am not sure what you've got. Was you 89 originally an auto? Could the connectors be for a TCU? I don't think it would effect the idling issues you are having. -
I'd be concern if the 89 is a BA10. That was the year Jeep switched from the BA10 to the AX15. If it is a BA10, the tcase will not bolt to an AX15. The tcase behind the BA has 21 splines, the tcase for the AX has 23 splines.

Fiat (I mean Jeep) sold a Wrangler model with the word "Willy's" painted on the side. Like a person named Willy owned the Jeep. I have heard for years that the owner of the company pronounced it Willis. It is the English pronunciation of the letter "y". Like Symth or Symington.

I am offended by everyone that gets offended. So, they need to stop offending me!

Renix Engine Monitor scan tool
87MJTIM replied to 87MJTIM's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Just an FYI for anyone interested in the Renix Engine Monitors, Nick is about to release a new version. Looks like lots of new features, especially for automatic trans Jeeps. Check out his youtube channel and facebook for more info. NickinTime For those who have already purchased one, he will rebate a portion of the original purchase price with the return of the old models. -
What could cause my low fuel pressure? Renix
87MJTIM replied to 1989 comanche mj's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Have you checked/changed the fuel pressure regulator? If the engine doesn't have enough pressure and looses pressure rapidly then the regulator may be bad. -
Coolant?!?!?

Transmission and transfer case?????
87MJTIM replied to HunterB's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The AX15 will not bolt to the 2.5L 4 cyl. You'll need an AX4 for 4wd. That was the 4 spd that came with the 2.5L If you can find a bell housing from a Dodge Dakota 2.5L that came with an AX15 (don't know which yrs), then you can bolt an AX15 to the Jeep 2.5. -
Been there. Done that. Don't want the T-shirt.

Need a new clutch, have a question
87MJTIM replied to mdmonroe's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
This definitely can help, but it will only drop a couple inches. The two foot ratchet extension is a must. -
