What rear end do I have??
87MJTIM replied to Climb over it's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I read some info about CJ7 for 86 that said CJs got the AMC20 until they ran out of those axles. Jeep then installed D44s in CJs. Jeep-CJ forum. The confusion of what parts Jeep put on the various models just goes to prove: Any Manufactures Components -
Gogmorgo - I didn't check that you are CAN. The rules north of the boarder must be different. My reply is applicable to USA.

That's an old style tank. They were phased out approx. 20 yrs ago (i.e. made illegal). Newer tanks have triangular valve handles. Yours has the old style circular valve handle. Most fittings now conform to the newer style tanks. You will have to find the old style hoses. Good luck.

Bored throttle bodies
87MJTIM replied to MeanLemons's topic in Vendors- members making products for MJs
I have an 87 TB (in addition to the one in my MJ). I would be interested in a bored out TB. I can send mine to you in exchange for one you've completed...or you can bore out mine and send it back. PM me cost and shipping address. Or will you be at the York Jeep show in July? -

👍👍 for Nicks REM -
JMO413 is right. You cannot reprogam the ECU. Jeep made internal changes to the ECU that improved HP. Keep in mind, in today's world of smart phones and the internet, our Jeeps are DOS. (showing my age.)

You want to get an ECU from a 89/90 XJ. Jeep reprogrammed the ECU to improve HP.

I've heard others say that you can try to kill a 4.0, but it will fight you. Sounds like yours fought back...and won.

July 2019 Mid-Atlantic CC PowWow / All-Breeds Jeep Show

I picked a factory driver's side panel from another CC member, so I don't need that. A few years back I purchased a driver's rocker panel from ZM Jeeps. I was told that it does not match the MJ. -

Page 85 of the Renix Fuel Injection Manual describes a KAM (Keep Alive Memory) that the ECU store with the key off. However, the LTFT is not mentioned as stored in the KAM. Maybe the combination of sensors stored in KAM default to keep the LTFT settings. Sensors stored: O2, MAP, TPS, MAT, and ECT. -

There must be some stored memory in the Renix ECU. when I start my truck, the REM shows the previous LTFT. It doesn’t reset to 128 -
Didn’t someone on here ask about pictures of the passenger side of the strohes Jeep? well, Pete has his pictures.

Transmission Option?
87MJTIM replied to BustedKnuckleJK's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The input shaft tip for the AX15 change from 1/2" to 3/4" in 93. This happened when Jeep switched to the external slave cylinders. So, the pilot bearing will depend on the year AX15 you can find. For a clutch kit, get one to match the trans. If you have an internal slave cyl, you can use the same clutch kit as the BA10. With the external slave cyl, get a clutch kit to match that one. (Ask me how I know.) Your flywheel goes with your engine electronics: Renix vs. HO. So, which ever FW you have, keep it. Your existing drive shafts will work. Get the tcase that came with the AX15. The BA10 has a 21 spline out put shaft. The AX15 has a 23 spline shaft. The tcase has to match the trans. Also get: the trans cross member, trans mounting brackets, and the tcase shift linkages. The cross member and mounts are different between the BA and AX. -

+3 on the grill. What year is it? -
Interesting. Long ago, I had the magnet hide-a-key. Somewhere in the world, someone has that hide-a-key box with a Jeep key, but no Jeep to go with it.

Replaced the ignition cylinder. The "tabs" broke off from the cylinder a few days ago. Also, I could not turn the cylinder to "ACC" position. I pulled an "new" cylinder from an 87 XJ. I took the key buzzer from the XJ and installed it in to the MJ. Now I will be warned if I leave the keys in the ignition. I know some people don't like the buzzer and remove it. However, after locking my keys inside I don't want to go through that again.

The one next to the clutch master is a second plug to the washer bottle. It's a hold over from XJs. It would power a pump to the rear window washer. The single red wire above the blower would power a under hood light, if you have/had one.

Could be an 88. Those mirrors were factory options - called Tow Mirrors. There is an internal brace to support the mirrors from wind while driving. The side Comanche emblem was COMANCHE on the 86 (and early 87s) models.
