  1. I am going out of town tomorrow. I won’t be able to get back. Sorry.
  2. https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/inventory/mount-airy-1208/1989-jeep-comanche/ I saw this listing last Friday, July 22. It was already 2 days old. I planned to go on Saturday and get whatever I could. Unfortunately, I got sick and couldn't get off the couch for three days. I finally got time Thursday, 7/28. When I found it in the yard, it was picked clean. 2 WD, Auto. All interior parts/pieces GONE! - dash, bench seat, trim panels ceiling panel. Column shift steering GONE! (instrument cluster was there, but badly damaged). Cap GONE! They either tried to remove the rear window and failed, or just trashed it. Glass all broken. Doors GONE! Tail lights GONE! Tailgate GONE! Rear bumper end caps GONE! I did get the parking brake pedal (tested it and it held, did not pop back) and the load sensing valve (why? IDK. Just because it was there). Front axle was there if someone needs a 2WD axle.
  3. My clock previously would go dark. I thought it was the clock. I did a dash ground upgrade and the clock now displays bright and clear.
  4. The factory recommended oil is 10w-30. However, other owners use Shell Rottella oils for its higher zinc content. Oil manufactures have changed the chemical composition in 35 years. Using oil with higher zinc content may be in order. You don't need premium gas. Depending on how long it's been sitting, you may want to drain the old gas and put in fresh gas.
  5. Wheel wells for sale?
  6. Does the case split in half - left and right? If so, it’s a BA10. If it splits front and back sections, then it’s an AX series
  7. We had a heavy rain the other day. A puddle of water accumulated on the driver's side floor (I pulled the carpet out a while ago until I can find the source of the leak). Feeling around on the floor for a water path and looking for drops hanging down from anything, I found drips on the fuse box. Is there a gasket or sealer I can put in between the two halves to stop the leaking?
  8. Same here - 87 Laredo. Also, heavy duty alternator and battery
  9. Rhino liner - chipping and pealing after just a few months. If I were to do it again, I would look for a different liner.
  10. What ever became of the rear bed corners?
  11. Since these parts are C.R.A.P. I am not surprised they crack. However, if two crack that quickly, I have to ask if something else is causing the pressure to build up. Do you have a head gasket leak? Do you have white smoke from the tail pipe? What do your spark plugs look like? Can you perform a compression test on the cylinders? Perform a leak down test? It may be cheap parts. The above tests/observations could lead to other possible causes.
  12. Key Parts has bed wheel well patch panels, rocker panels, and bed floor panels on the website. https://www.keypartsonline.com/comanche-mj/ On YouTube, Second Chance Jeeps has a series of videos about repairing a MJ - cab floors and rocker repairs. He compares Key Parts to C2C floor pans. Search for them and watch what he's done.
  13. For floor pans, go with Key Parts. there’s a thread about repairing the tailgate. Depending on how bad the rear bumper is it may be straightened
  14. This should get pinned to the DIY section. Thanks, Cruiser.
  15. Clogged cat? I had a similar issue when trying to accelerate. Loose pieces inside the cat would shift restricting exhaust flow.
  16. Too early to say yes. If I go, I probably won't be on the field. I would be there for the swap meet and the fabulous food.
  17. The temperature sensor screws into the radiator- driver’s side, next to the e-fan. The temperature sensor triggers a relay that powers the fan. The relay is on the driver’s side inner fender. Try removing the relay and jump the power supply. If the fan comes on, then it maybe the sensor is bad.
  18. Looks like seeping around the cap. Either get a Volvo cap (see Cruiser54) or change the bottle and cap.
  19. I have swapped to an AX15 also. Parts needed: AX15 - preferably with an external slave cylinder (bell housing, shift fork, slave cylinder) Transmission cross member Transmission mount Transfer case (23 spline input shaft) Transfer case shift linkage
  20. Good to know. For 3" lift, you could go with puck/spacers up front or change the coil springs to give you the lift. Lifts more than 3" will affect handling. You may have to change control arms and pitman arms. For the rear, you could get new leaf springs from General Springs. These give initial lift of approx 3", but may settle some. Less expenses lift options are: Add a Leaf to your spring pack and/or longer shackles will add lift.
  21. No one has mentioned the obvious, so I will. What condition is the truck? Does it start, go and stop? Rust? Address any safety issues before modifying it. Have you (or your dad) performed Cruiser's Renix Tips? If not, you should look at www.cruiser54.com and perform any/all of his tips. What are your goals for the truck? Taking it off road, larger tires, or just the "look" of the truck? Let us know about the MJ: engine, trans, axles, modification previously done, etc. Post the VIN and you can get the build data for it. Pictures are always nice.
  22. What Pete said: modern dealerships won't know to fixed an old Jeep. Search for a repair manual online for 91-92 Comanches and Cherokees. Purchase a good quality digital multimeter (DVOM). Learn how to use the basic functions: volts and ohms. This will help you with diagnosing electrical issues. And be like me (and many others), get your YouTube Certificate. YouTube is a wealth of very useful (and not so useful) information. If you have a problem that needs fixin', someone has posted a YouTube video on how to repair it.
  23. In the original photo, look just to the left of the driver's side front tire below the bumper. See the dark curve of the axle. That is what I saw.
  24. The price is what a willing seller and willing buyer agree to. Post the VIN and another CC member can get info about what may have originally come on it from the factory. Is it a 4.0 or 2.5? It looks like a 4x4. (I can see a bulge under the truck, next to the left tire.) The rims aren't original. The rear bumper was replaced. Otherwise, the picture looks nice.
