  1. My efan kicks on when the REM registers 219*. (I don't trust the dash gauge.)
  2. There is no diff between MJ and XJ AX15 cross members. There is a diff between auto and manual trans. I think you have an auto CM. You said the seller had several CMs. Was there one with the drop section?
  3. Someone else may look at the cross member and comment. I cannot see the center drop section. I am not sure that is the correct cross member.
  4. Your signature does not show where you are located. Update it to show your state and closest city. That way other CC members may be of help. I was watching a local junkyard for Jeep XJ a while back. At one time there was an 90 with a 4wd, internal slave cyl. trans and a 96 2wd with an external slave cyl. trans. I left the yard that day with one 4wd AX15 with an external slave bell housing and all the inner parts. (Needless to say, it was a long day.) You may want to watch junkyards, also.
  5. I have stated previously: My BA10 never left me stranded. However, I had the slave cylinder replaced 5 times. I vowed it would not see a sixth. That's why I swapped to an AX15 with an external slave cylinder.
  6. If you want to go to 4WD later, don't get the 2WD. You will only have to get a 4WD later. To change a 2WD to 4WD is more time and $$ then the cost of a 4WD. Search for a 94+ manual XJ that is a 4WD. You will get (almost) everything: external slave cylinder, tcase, cross member, trans mount, slave cyl., front axle, and front DS. You will need to get a new rear DS or have yours cut down. The XJ rear DS will be to short.
  7. I am sorry to hijack this thread, but in your signature your tire size is P125 ? Is that a typo or do you have really narrow tread?
  8. Yes, it will bolt up to your 88 4.0. (AS LONG AS IT IS AN AX15. The AX4 and AX5 (2.5 engines) look similar to the 15, but do not bolt to the 4.0. The DS will fit the BA10 and AX15. Yes, you can convert to an external slave setup. You will need a different bell housing, the front bearing retainer cover, the bearing release fork, pivot ball (for the fork), and a release bearing. EDIT: Find out if the cross member comes with it. You will need that, also. It looks like the mount is attached.
  9. Yes, the end of your current DS mates to the tcase.
  10. For a 4wd set up, the DS goes into the tcase, not the trans. The out put of a 4wd mates to a tcase. You can't run a 4WD without a tcase (that I'm aware of). You can install a tcase without a front axle. Then when you have the front axle installed, you attach the front DS.
  11. Your parts list is going to include: A 4WD AX15 (preferably with an external slave cylinder). The proper bell housing whether internal or external. If external, the shift (bearing release) fork. If external, the proper slave cylinder. A tcase with 23 spline input shaft from an AX15. The trans cross member. Your current one doesn't fit the AX15. The trans mounting bracket (see above). A shorter drive shaft (or shorten your old one). When you convert to 4WD: A front axle with matching gearing to your rear (which is probably 3.07.) You may want to upgrade the rear to match the front. Find one without a CAD (or just by-pass the CAD). A front drive shaft. Transfer case shift linkage for inside the cab.
  12. Same here. Original owner. No plans to sell it. (Someone once asked if I was interested in selling it. I told him he would have to talk to my daughter, because I'll be dead.)
  13. I am going out of town tomorrow. I won’t be able to get back. Sorry.
  14. https://www.lkqpickyourpart.com/inventory/mount-airy-1208/1989-jeep-comanche/ I saw this listing last Friday, July 22. It was already 2 days old. I planned to go on Saturday and get whatever I could. Unfortunately, I got sick and couldn't get off the couch for three days. I finally got time Thursday, 7/28. When I found it in the yard, it was picked clean. 2 WD, Auto. All interior parts/pieces GONE! - dash, bench seat, trim panels ceiling panel. Column shift steering GONE! (instrument cluster was there, but badly damaged). Cap GONE! They either tried to remove the rear window and failed, or just trashed it. Glass all broken. Doors GONE! Tail lights GONE! Tailgate GONE! Rear bumper end caps GONE! I did get the parking brake pedal (tested it and it held, did not pop back) and the load sensing valve (why? IDK. Just because it was there). Front axle was there if someone needs a 2WD axle.
  15. My clock previously would go dark. I thought it was the clock. I did a dash ground upgrade and the clock now displays bright and clear.
  16. The factory recommended oil is 10w-30. However, other owners use Shell Rottella oils for its higher zinc content. Oil manufactures have changed the chemical composition in 35 years. Using oil with higher zinc content may be in order. You don't need premium gas. Depending on how long it's been sitting, you may want to drain the old gas and put in fresh gas.
  17. Wheel wells for sale?
  18. Does the case split in half - left and right? If so, it’s a BA10. If it splits front and back sections, then it’s an AX series
  19. We had a heavy rain the other day. A puddle of water accumulated on the driver's side floor (I pulled the carpet out a while ago until I can find the source of the leak). Feeling around on the floor for a water path and looking for drops hanging down from anything, I found drips on the fuse box. Is there a gasket or sealer I can put in between the two halves to stop the leaking?
  20. Same here - 87 Laredo. Also, heavy duty alternator and battery
  21. Rhino liner - chipping and pealing after just a few months. If I were to do it again, I would look for a different liner.
  22. What ever became of the rear bed corners?
  23. Since these parts are C.R.A.P. I am not surprised they crack. However, if two crack that quickly, I have to ask if something else is causing the pressure to build up. Do you have a head gasket leak? Do you have white smoke from the tail pipe? What do your spark plugs look like? Can you perform a compression test on the cylinders? Perform a leak down test? It may be cheap parts. The above tests/observations could lead to other possible causes.
  24. Key Parts has bed wheel well patch panels, rocker panels, and bed floor panels on the website. https://www.keypartsonline.com/comanche-mj/ On YouTube, Second Chance Jeeps has a series of videos about repairing a MJ - cab floors and rocker repairs. He compares Key Parts to C2C floor pans. Search for them and watch what he's done.
