You have a great start here young man! I agree keep this as your DD and find a 4x4 in a few years. As for learning to fix your own vehicle, we all start somewhere. Keep at it bit by bit

For your light issue, check the rear bed ground wire its in the driver side taillight opening IIRC as it grounds all the rear lights.

Dana 30 1 Piece Axle Conversion
Herc replied to Project Comanche's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
I'll keep adding grease to my u-joints as I have lost track of how many different joints I have found devoid of any grease in the crosses and just enough in the caps to hold the needle bearings. That goes for sealed or greasable joints. We'll all do things our own ways. -

Whether you use Moog, Federal Mogul, Spicer or any other brand, take the caps off and give them a healthy dose of grease before installing. They are not packed with enough grease to just install as they are in the box. But YES definitely REPLACE the u-joints it is cheap insurance. -

Was driving the Manche to work one morning and stopped at the light. On the green I proceeded throught the intersection, or tried to truck did not want to move but then caught and started going with a nice loud BANG CRUNCH and lotsa loud noises. Long story short had it towed home and pulled the tranny to find one of the ears of the torque convertor had broken off in the tranny. Yup time for a rebuild!

I don't have any explanations, bu twould like to add to the thread. I am having a simlar issue with my gauge, from full to below half it reads fine then is unreliable below half. I found this out on the way home from work, gas light come onand 10 minutes later was on the side of the road out of gas!!! I know I have a solid 45 mins from when the light comes on until I am on fumes. (only did that once, two years ago)
