  1. Awesome Krusty!! Was just looking at my COMANCHE and considering the options for towing next year. Perfect timing dude!! Will be ordering a set after my move in October, keep up the good work.
  2. Traced the seven fatory spices in the fuel power line from Relay to pump, truck now has fuel again and then fixed fuel leak. MJ is finally running again after several months and total swap out with 96 cherokee. Lotta work and doesn't help when everything is four hours away........but now in the home stretch. One maybe two weeks and I'll be driving it again
  3. I upgraded mine to a high amp alternator from a Grand Cherokee V8, 135 amp IIRC. Bolt in and plug in to the factory harness(91-92 MJ only), larger casing but still fits without interference. Mind you I several lights, a winch and other various electrical gizmo's, and more to add so wanted the headroom for charging a second battery as well. As for a good aftermarket alternator, AC Delco and Bosch are readily available. For the older Comanche's different alternator and wiring.
  4. ^ we have a winner!
  5. Very nice! I'd love to Dually an MJ one day with stroker and mod'd AW4.....
  6. Both Moog and Precision joints "add grease" When I use a Spicer joint I'll check it as well.
  7. Unless you find an MJ D44 or AMC 20 (which will be bolt in) the rest will not bolt in. I have the Chrysler 8.25 with metric ton springs under my 86 long box, beautiful combo.
  8. Cleaned and painted the engine bay, cleaned the engine/tranny/tcase and installed in my truck
  9. I used a thick cut set of 4.10's on my 3.55 carrier in the YJ they are great. Been runnin them for two years now.
  10. Find a drill, Big enough to drill out the top of the rivet and go just far enough to take of the top of the rivet then punch the remainder through the dash.
  11. Took out the drivetrain, wiring harnesses, dash and steering column.
  12. Not to mention the turdy-five in the rear...
  13. Has the extra length of the 8.25 at the pinion been taken into account? I believe they are 1" longer than the D35 from axle centreline. I also temp bolt in and adjust the angles then tack and pull to burn in.
  14. Dayum........
  15. Here is one from Rubicon Express Spring plate with skid And those shock mounts I used on my 44 in the YJ, they work great!
  16. Thank you for reminding me, I remember reading that on another thread somewhere. :D
  17. Excellent work on a very clean truck & LOVE the blue!!
  18. Strokermjcomanche, when you can yes a pic or two would be great! onlyinajeep726, have been reading your thread as well, nice work young man! neohic, the cruise will be on my list of things to get working once swap is done and running proper.
  19. Definitely going to be swapping the Hvac system over, will end up with A/C in the truck as a result too. Looking at swapping the steering column as well while I have it all apart, but do I hook up the airbags from the 96 Cherokee?
  20. Awesome!! Never to much to read when doing a swap, the more info the better. Thank you Neohic
  21. Did this on my 86 MJ and there was a noticeable improvement even with worn bushings. With new bushings was almost like a new truck again....kinda hard for a 28 yr old truck!
  22. Bumpin this back up, excellent thread sir! very enlightening.
  23. Just come across the thread by mfpdm on XJ to MJ Rear harness wiring guide printing off now and will be going over the next couple nights beside my wiring manuals. Any other input much appreciated!!
  24. Hi folks, I am in the process of making sure I have everything lined up for the upcoming swap. Will be taking the drivetrain(4.0L + AW4 + NP242) along with dash and full wiring harnesses except for body wiring, from a 96 XJ over to my 86 MJ. Also swapping over wil be the front doors, front axle and driveshafts as the front will be bolt in and the rear I will either have to shorten the current shaft or lengthen the cherokee shaft. I have been going over the wiring schematics and doing a lot of measuring, between both vehicles. Would like any input in case there may be something I am overlooking in regards to the swap. Anything you may have run into, had an issue with proper fitment, wiring not matching or anything of the sort. The Mj already had a conversion done prior to this undertaking, as it currently sits there is a 91 YJ 4.0 with a TF999 and NP231 that will be coming out. Thank you in advance for any and all input. Mike
