  3. Here's an exhaust manifold on e-bay. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Dorman-OE-Solutions-674-225-Exhaust-Manifold-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem588b1a285eQQitemZ380290869342QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
  4. what years of pumps will fit on a 1988 with a 4.0l motor? I know '88 to '90 are the same (probably '87 to at least 96?? some one please chime in) What auto trans was used in the 1988 with the 4.0l? in '89 it was AW4, maybe the same in '88? Was the dip stick tube for the trans in 2 pieces with a hose or has this been modified by someone? All were a one piece metal tube which inserted into the block. one more, the wipers go real slow is this the motor or some hidden part I am unaware of? Mine are slow on the '88 also, my guess is the motor. This is my first MJ and I'm starting to regret it already. The best part, it's a rust free truck and if it doesn't straighten up it's act, I'll sell it! If it's rust free just put some effort into fixing it, it's actually very simple.

  7. If the headlight switch is turned fully counter clockwise past the "click" the dome lights will turn on with the door shut. I would replace the door switches they're 20 years old and are actuated every time you open the door-that's a lot of use. Remove them and take them with you to the parts store since there are several types ranging from $2-$10 and you need different ones for the driver and passenger side. If you switch the lights around does the same side light up or the same light, at least you can verify your wiring is OK. If you don't already have this bookmarked, here's the '88 electrical manual, not sure what year yours is http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12734&hilit=electrical+manual Does your buzzer work if the key is in the ignition and the driver's seat belt is not engaged? If it does your buzzer works.

  9. I'm going to the Windsor Pick-N-Pull on Friday, they've had 2 '86 MJs in the yard for 1-2 months and have 25+ XJs. I know the front skid plates are the same and the tank skids are different but how about the transfer case skid? I can get them for you (if they're there) don't know what they will charge, how much do you want to spend for each? Maybe I can drop them off on my way back or you can pick them up in Fairfield. PM me if interested. Mike
  10. Are you sure your door switches are working properly? Do you get buzzing sound if your headlights are on with the door open? Here are other lights people have used: http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=12251&hilit=lights
  11. I never had a problem keeping them clean :dunno: That's one approach. :clapping:
  12. Nice, another ELIMINATOR saved.
  13. Looks great Don. Now the bad part, I find they're a pain in the a$$ to clean, 10 spokes, 3 side each...
  14. EZ out or try a screw extractor.
  15. The OEM AMC ones also have the black strip.
  16. Check the EGR valve.
  17. I NEED the CD!!! Who would have thought Metallica could be so soothing? Steve Martin was right, the banjo is the happiest instrument.
  18. contact Silver88 he posted a '91 at the JY, might still have it and maybe he can pull it. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=35&t=26498
  19. Did you see this? http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=26274
  20. There are two rubber flaps that pretty much cover the slot, and if you put one of these cup holders http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/12035-50-Console-Cup-Holder-Jeep-Cherokee-XJ-1984-96-_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQhashZitem5d2af3a537QQitemZ400152569143QQptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories there, you won't even see it. I also like putting the heat duct that runs the length of the XJ console back in to send some heat to the back. If you do this, remember to also take the heat vent box (under ash tray) from the XJ.
  21. 1. If I found an xj with the center console and the e-brake assembly (hand brake) how could that work with an MJ with the foot ebrake? The e-brake handle just passes through a slot in the console, you do not need the handle, the slot would just be empty. Or will you be converting to a hand e-brake? People on here have done that. 2. How would you mount the console in there? Just make sure to get the brackets that hold the console to the trans hump (2 or 3???). Cut the carpet where the brackets will go and screw the brackets into place. I've heard people say there are location dimples but I've never found any. 3. If you have a set of MJ bucket seat brackets will an XJ bucket seat fit on it? Yes, but there are are a couple types of XJ seats some will sit too high, search for this topic, Pete has posted info several times.
  22. They should be in the electrical manual. http://www.comancheclub.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=12734&hilit=electrical+manual
  23. What? Cali doesn't make Bama look good?
  24. Me either. Didn't know they existed. :hmm: If you look closely at my signature the tan '89 has the "flag' mirrors.
