I ended up replacing the socket with a functional one from a spare harnesses (I couldn't find a replacement at the local parts stores :grrrr: ), now it works properly. I guess all three harnesses had bad left sockets, what are the odds :hmm: ? Time to hit the Lottery???

I corrected my earlier post, the back tube goes to the intake in front of the TB. here's the vacuum diagram from the '90 FSM.

But wouldn't that mean all three harnesses have the same problem? I'll try it tomorrow.

Same, the '87-90 parts catalog only shows one PN 55007123 SEAL, Rear window.

These are the vacuum lines for the RENIX engines from NAPA. The third one is the one you're asking about. 7151367 from cover to bracket ~$25 7151366 from bracket to air box ~$25 7151365 from cover to intake in front of TB ~$10

I've searched but I'm still stumped. '89 MJ 1- Left front parking light will not illuminate (right is good) 2- Works when signaling/flashers, although dim (only one filament is on) 3- Left turn indicator dash light is on when parking/headlights are on 4- Bulb is OK (switched in one that worked) 5- Swapped in two other harnesses (I KNOW one worked when pulled 3 months ago) still the same 6- According to the wiring diagram (see below) the left uses pin 3, the right pin 8, and both share pins 4 & 5 7- Voltages were the same at pins 3 & 8 (engine side) What am I missing? All three harnesses can't have the same bad socket or short, can they?

Just got it hooked up and did a dry run (radio not put back together) and it works great just like XJguy said. I used the line from earphones and the female connectors from an old wiring harness I had laying around. Now I need to get this one finished and repeat for the other two MJs. They look different and the 850's are larger. Both came with clear or amber lenses (maybe not on Jeeps, I'm not sure). Are the circled pins the ones you're describing? They are marked as TP371 and TP471, to which did you attach the right and left, does orientation matter? I've found Jeep cassette players with two types of fronts, one with the clock button (newer model) and ones with the DX button. However, I've found that some with the DX button have the board vertical and some have it horizontal and all that I have are different than automan2164's pictures (at least 4 versions?). The picture with the three radios has the DX ones lined up front to back. You can see similarities between the DX ones but the boards are in different orientations, and both the front DX one and the CLK one have horizontal boards. I've circled the TP371 & TP471 pins in all radios. The blue tape has the model numbers from the other side of the radios.
