So I'm working on a school project and I remembered something that I never mentioned here. Two days before I left for school, when I should have been packing, I had to clear a couple of dead branches at home. When I turned the tractor off because we had company (actually was Grandpa Jim's, who I inherited the tractor from, daughter and grandson), the key switch shorted out and caught fire. Thankfully no damage was done, but I did end up spending the afternoon repairing the wiring and replacing the key switch.

AW4 transmission slow takeoff
89 MJ replied to Ken Seymour's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
You shouldn’t need to drop the whole trans. Should only need to drop the pan. I’d throw a new filter in there too while you’re at it. Here’s a thread on changing the kick down cable. https://naxja.org/threads/kickdown-cable-issue.1109877/ I don’t think that the transmission rebuild will cost $400 either, unless you’re doing it yourself. -
Glad you're back! That color is super cool. Why the 258 cam?

Chevy Venture 3.4 swap in to Comanche that has 2.8 GM
89 MJ replied to Steve F's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Some FWD GM engines had different bellhousing bolt patterns despite being the same engine also. Just something else to be sure of. -
They did have quite a few of them. 2 that were damaged beyond repair (I think they were the Mallet Hammer and the 1.5 millionth) plus the black 62 pictured and the Blue Devil ZR1 pictured. I think there might’ve been one more on display too. Maybe the millionth was the last one.

My family went there in July of 2024 and we were there before that in 2014. If you’ve never been there, it’s worth going. I’d be lying if I said I don’t want a Corvette. Specifically, a 68-72 Corvette. The green one in the last picture would be perfect.

5 pages is far too many for me to look through, so I don't know. But here's the link for anyone else interested. https://www.youtube.com/@LowBuckGarage It's a good channel that does a lot of older Jeep/4x4 stuff on a budget.

Off Road/Grid Comanche Camper Project

This is the way campers should be. I like the plan you’ve got going. -
New AX15, very chirpy but not the TOB
89 MJ replied to brucecooner's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
The front driveshafts do not have a slip yoke, so you’ll have to pull the four bolts at the axle and the other four bolts at the transfer case. -
I've heard it too

Ohhhh yeah! This is going to be a good build.

I would think it should be the same. I’ve got the old valve cover on a 96 engine. I’m guessing I ordered the gasket for an 89, but I don’t remember.

Choosing the correct color Stripe Pack
89 MJ replied to Salvagedcircuit's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Glad to help before it got expensive. I agree, the Pioneer stripes are too similar in color. -

Just throwing it out there, I think the Sportruck bedside pieces will be too short for your long bed. The Sportruck was short bed only. I think either gold or black would look good on your truck though. If I was you, I’d do the 86 4x4 decals. -
Land Rover axles in a Comanche
89 MJ replied to Steve F's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Sounds like the aftermarket CR Laurence rear window. They’re pretty good. -

I don’t know of anyone that has done this exact swap, but it should be the same as any other axle swap. -
Here's something neat for the other Eagle owners on here to check out. A list of options with prices for each model year. Mine cost $13924 new.
