  1. I’m jealous. I’ve thought about selling my MJ to get one of these (blasphemy, I know).
  2. Going back together. I’m almost as far as I can go before needing to pull the engine out of the Eagle. The Eagle already has a brand new water pump that I need to use and I’ll need the Eagle specific oil pan.
  3. My 96 was the same way
  4. Out of curiosity, what does your engine air filter look like? It could be that the engine isn’t getting enough air, so it is sucking more from the crankcase.
  5. Glad to see progress on this build again!
  6. Did some cleaning on the front wheels. It also helped with another tree that we took down.
  7. They are 2 door XJ buckets. The floor brackets must be swapped with MJ or brackets.
  8. That is the way those carpet kits come. They’re a bit of a pain to install, but they’re well worth it when you get it done.
  9. That is going to look fantastic! I’m excited to see everything put together.
  10. It really depends on how nice it is, how many miles it has, and your location.
  11. I think I’d run a high flow then. I think I’ll do the same on my truck. There seems to be a point where these trucks turn too many rpm to stay cool at a certain speed. Even with everything functioning correctly, my truck overheats after a couple of hours running 75+. I like the Mishimoto in my truck.
  12. If you’re going to go with an ACC carpet kit, rock auto will probably be the cheapest.
  13. I’m going to stick with the carb. Even if I were to go with a 4.0 head (and I probably will someday), I will probably keep the carb. Between the simplicity of it and because I prefer mechanical fuel pumps, it makes sticking with the carb a better option. Not to mention, it’s a lot cheaper.
  14. Started tearing down the new engine today. I think it is very low mileage. The rod bearings looked brand new, as did the valve train. We did pull the head and lap the valves. Now to order a pile of parts.
  15. I got lucky for sure. And it was only 15 minutes from home.
  16. Goodnight sun, hello new 258. Hard to pass up a whole engine for $25 when the one in the car is on its last legs. And yes, I used the Eagle to get it.
  17. 10 slot grille too, so it’s got a pre-88 grille. Sweet truck!
  18. That’s really good to know! I’ll have to remember that. I ended up going the route that I did because I want to keep my cruise control.
  19. I had to modify the speedo cable and use the end from another one, but I now have a functioning speedometer. Now for the first time since I’ve had the car, the speedometer is functioning AND correct.
  20. We use ones like this. To haul it to get recycled, we’ll put it in milk jugs or put it back in the original container.
  21. Watch out world, big update here! When I swapped the dash, I didn’t change the glove box door lock. I was going through my extra parts and I decided I should finally do that. Yup, that’s the update. The weather has been terrible this spring, so I have only put about 150 miles on it.
  22. This tractor has just been a solid workhorse for the last few years. The original choke cable broke earlier this spring, so that needed replacing.
  23. I would also not recommend 3.07s for 30s, nor would I recommend an Explorer 8.8. The Explorer 8.8 is narrower than the stock MJ axles. The Explorer Sport Trac pickup has a similar width rear to MJs, but those only had options for 3.73 and 4.10 gears.
  24. I think I’ve still got a solid rear window. The closest I’ll be to you is VA though towards the end of July.
  25. I recently put an extra NP231J in my Eagle. The Eagle has a different front driveshaft set up as XJs and MJs, it it requires a u bolt style u joint strap instead of the bolts like our MJs use. I also needed them for the rear because I used the Rubicon Express SYE, but that’s beside the point. The u joint straps you will need are SKF part number UJ534-10. Hopefully this helps someone in the future.
