Just about everything from the doors forward on these trucks are the same as an 84-96 XJ, but 97+ parts can be used with some work. Welcome to the forum!
No deep pockets here! I just don't have many adult responsibilities yet and I love preventative maintenance. My RockAuto order was over $300 for my engine swap and I was replacing parts that were still ok, but I replaced them because it was easy.
This is so relatable. Every other person combined (my godmother, godfather, dad, and mother) have not put 20 miles on my truck in the time that I have owned it. I have put about 5,000 miles on it.
If the issue is only when the engine is hot, I would be willing to bet that the starter is on its way out. Because everything expands when the engine gets hot, the starter might not have enough power to turn it over. This is why the GM 327 had a hi-torque starter back in the 60s.
Here is the plan for the yellow truck for now:
Black
Honcho stripes
White wagon wheels
AX-15 swap
4.56 gears
We are hoping to get it done for the All Breeds Jeep Show in July, but we won't tear into it until it starts to get warmer out. Lots of long nights and weekends are ahead of us!
We would also be a lot better off if people wouldn't get their panties in a wad every time someone disagrees with them (ahem, my generation). Some other words of advice, don't argue with an idiot, people won't be able to tell who the real idiot is.
