  1. when I bought my first MJ the hi-beams didn't work. turned out that rod had simply fallen out of place and wasn't pushing the switch at the base of the column. Only took me YEARS to discover that tidbit of knowledge.
  2. normally I agree with the by-the-numbers approach, but 10s of thousands of Jeeps are out there rocking 8" rims with the big fat tires, mine included. an 8" rim is just 1/2" off the typical "range "minimum". you may need to play with the air pressure to find that sweet spot for tire wear but you'll be doing that anyway since it's a giant tire under a lightweight Jeep.
  3. you most definitely need to start a thread in Tech or DIY about your experience! I can't allow that info to just get buried in the classifieds.
  4. it's totally possible, you just need to find the right box. I had a small wedge box with a high end 8" woofer in it for the longest time (can't remember what I was feeding it, but was a TON of rms amps). I put it behind the passenger seat so it didn't liquefy my kidneys all the time I've seen custom enclosures with 12"ers down to simple bass tubes in MJs. it's such a tiny cab that you don't really need much box.
  5. 8" all day. running a 10" has been done, but very rarely so chances are good that any pics you see are 8"ers. Some run the factory 7" MJ rims.
  6. fuel tank should have a sock in it. that might be what he's thinking of. But there will also be a fuel filter somewhere in a location that can be changed on a regular basis.
  7. that's a milestone right there!
  8. helper dogs are the best
  9. didn't say they were selling for that, unless it's perfect.
  10. I assume he paid less than the $300 I keep seeing people trying to get.
  11. I intend to mount the thing as a whole. I've got a frame in mind already but it'll be a couple weeks til I'm back to GA and can check the size.
  12. It's a 4 page foldout with ads inside. open it up and you get these pages: open it up further and you get these pages:
  13. and that is precisely why I now own a winch. mud pits? not likely. need a 1k# bag of trash hauled up a hill? yup!
  14. it's not all people like that though. Some are just looking for help. I've noticed a trend in the last few years that people aren't using search engines like they used to. I've talked to guys that have never even searched google for "comanche". Their very first thought was to search FB for comanche pages. Blows my mind. am I now officially... old?
  15. facebook can be... frustrating... to say the least. To a random owner seeking help it can be very hard to know which posts are the correct ones to follow. Plus many posters seem to just want to pay attention to the posts that fit their own agenda (need a quick fix, bigger is always better, etc). I like to help people, and I feel compelled to stick around just to be able to interject facts (as we know them) into the mix when I can, but I've learned that for my own sanity I also need to just back away after a post or 2 on a subject. The DIY forum is fantastic because I can easily link the OP to a whole thread of discussion about a topic rather than typing a long dissertation that might get drowned out.
  16. how much lift do you have?
  17. honestly, that's one of the best upgrades I've done to my Libby. oem lugnuts suck!
  18. generally a leak in the pressure bottle results in overheating.
  19. what has been seen, cannot be unseen I'm going to start referring to the PT as Ted now.
  20. a solid truck with a messed up bed? sounds perfect
  21. hurray for sarcasm! (or is it facetiousness?) anywho, it turns out the Libby was overheating on the mountain passes because the efan wasn't coming on. brought back memories of the last time when it was even hotter and I was pulling even more weight up the same hills in Tennessee (that time it was the fan rusted up solid). I can get it to come on if I bypass the relay so I think I'll just use one of my offroad lights' switch/relay spots to trigger it manually for the return trip in a couple weeks. Later on maybe I try to figure out why it's not being triggered (not for overheating, not for AC). or maybe not since it only becomes an issue on steep inclines pulling weight while it's hot out. meh. My Libby is famous for amassing problems that I can ignore. I like to tell people I'm just trying to collect all the lights on the dash. I'm up to 7 now (plus the AWD light that doesn't come on even though it should be on). yay for old Jeeps!
