1975 Brutally Simple Daily Driver

and that is precisely why I now own a winch. mud pits? not likely. need a 1k# bag of trash hauled up a hill? yup! -
it's not all people like that though. Some are just looking for help. I've noticed a trend in the last few years that people aren't using search engines like they used to. I've talked to guys that have never even searched google for "comanche". Their very first thought was to search FB for comanche pages. Blows my mind. am I now officially... old?

facebook can be... frustrating... to say the least. To a random owner seeking help it can be very hard to know which posts are the correct ones to follow. Plus many posters seem to just want to pay attention to the posts that fit their own agenda (need a quick fix, bigger is always better, etc). I like to help people, and I feel compelled to stick around just to be able to interject facts (as we know them) into the mix when I can, but I've learned that for my own sanity I also need to just back away after a post or 2 on a subject. The DIY forum is fantastic because I can easily link the OP to a whole thread of discussion about a topic rather than typing a long dissertation that might get drowned out.

honestly, that's one of the best upgrades I've done to my Libby. oem lugnuts suck! -
generally a leak in the pressure bottle results in overheating.

what has been seen, cannot be unseen I'm going to start referring to the PT as Ted now.

hurray for sarcasm! (or is it facetiousness?) anywho, it turns out the Libby was overheating on the mountain passes because the efan wasn't coming on. brought back memories of the last time when it was even hotter and I was pulling even more weight up the same hills in Tennessee (that time it was the fan rusted up solid). I can get it to come on if I bypass the relay so I think I'll just use one of my offroad lights' switch/relay spots to trigger it manually for the return trip in a couple weeks. Later on maybe I try to figure out why it's not being triggered (not for overheating, not for AC). or maybe not since it only becomes an issue on steep inclines pulling weight while it's hot out. meh. My Libby is famous for amassing problems that I can ignore. I like to tell people I'm just trying to collect all the lights on the dash. I'm up to 7 now (plus the AWD light that doesn't come on even though it should be on). yay for old Jeeps!

Questions from a potential MJ owner
Pete M replied to JackD's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
no MJ is completely safe from the floor rust. there are a dozen places that can leak and even a car wash can then put moisture under the carpet. fingers crossed though! -
my buddy has a door key to his old truck ziptied to the underside somewhere. MJs have 2 separate keys so the door key on the underside would only give the thief the same access as a rock.

putting the stock leafs on top of the axle will net 5-6" of lift. -
if I remember right it's just power, ground and wires running to the other door.

nice! that would sure put a smile on my face every time I needed to run into town. I doubt any of the other cars in the parking lot give the same level of happiness.

the late 90s seems like it was the peak of comfy-ness for chrysler seats. I loved the seats in my old 97 town n country.
