wait, are we talking about this particular trend? this is not an island thing. it's everywhere. my guess is they are copying what they see at truck shows, where low profile tires are frequently used because they are cheaper and don't block the views of their shiny new suspension parts they are pimping. plus I'm sure none of the owners want to trim the fenders on their $70k rig to fit a decent tire.

I've known of a handful of Jeeps and other little 4x4s set up with engine hoists or mini cranes on the rear, but this may be the first I'd seen that went all-in with a forklift. kudos to him.

so far you're a one man band, so you can start wherever you'd like if others chime in, then we can get more organized. Just looking for maybe the 3-5 best mods, focusing on the things that got them in Epic Tech in the first place (like a 5.3L v8 swap, turbo 4.0L, Exocage, etc). don't worry about making a huge list of all the mods for each truck. If the Epic threads go well and we get more help, we can certainly expand to do all the project threads

So it's been a while now since I had the idea of adding "tags" and haven't been able to find the time to do it myself and then I learned that regular members couldn't add tags to threads like admins can so I couldn't farm it out... so I've come up with a plan C: see if one or more of you guys would like to skim through the Epic tech threads and jot down the highlights of the projects in a way that I can then use your notes to add in "tags" that help people know what's inside said threads (V8, turbo, 1-ton axles, whatever it is that makes it special). Sound like something anyone would like to do?

did yours break? new distributor doesn't have one?

my best guess is that the little things are for "legal" reasons and they run giant tires offroad. just a best-case-scenario guess though.

I agree. I love build threads even if they are more upkeep then upgrade.

and it'd be 10 times worse if I hurt her lawn! now, if I haul it to my cousin's place for temp storage while the title thing is sorted out, then we'll see about saving the axles. I'd still prefer having it magically go poof from the drive. I'm leaving on sunday at it has to be gone from it's current home by then.

I literally threw away a rusty bronco body/frame once. one chunk at a time. that was back before scrap had any decent value and I kinda wanted to keep the title (for reasons that now escape me).

yeah, Michigan is a real stickler for titles.

If all goes well (and I can get my hands on a title this week) it'll be leaving on a tow truck. If all goes to pot, it'll be dragged away on a uhaul dolly to my cousin's place while he waits for the title. I did give a quick thought to upgrading the axle of my half-a-Jeep , but don't have a welder up here.

the only problem with the rear axle is that the Jeep needs to be a roller in order to be able to get dragged away.

looks fantastic! I'd probably put more shakedown miles on it before heading out of reach of a tow truck. I remember my first wheeling trip after the big build and didn't find out until I was deep into the silver lake dunes that my e-fan wasn't coming on. I was able to hard wire the fan to the battery and continue on my day though.
